"Morning, everyone," Amaya greeted the class stoutly with a nod. "Sorry about last week, but, as I'm sure most of you have realized, the Island was going through one of its little ...things, and it couldn't be helped. Still, despite the obstacle, you all did a great job. If you need me to go over anything I attempted to go over last week, just let me know, I'll be happy to go over it again, this time even loud enough for you to hear me."

She was smiling faintly, somewhat pained, since fourteen year old her was much harder to avoid the after-effects of than seven year old her had been. She didn't exactly appreciate the forced perspective into her childhood, but what could be done about it? Nothing, so it was best to just move on.

"And today we'll be doing more framing, anyway, focusing now on the apartment upstairs, getting all those walls framed and erected. Second verse, a little different than the first, and teamwork's going to be important here, because those walls are heavy, and we're a little higher up, so the wind's going to play a factor, too. Once you got a wall up...and, of course, I've already got 'em together for you and marked where they go, take turns holding and nailing, and I'll help, too, because an extra set of hands in a job like this rarely hurts."

"Any questions?" she asked, looking around to field any that there might be. "Alright, then," she pounded a fist into her other hand, then quirked her thumb toward the second floor, "gear up, climb up, and let's get to work!"

"Yo, Rookies!" Reno grinned as he leaned back against his desk, arms crossed over his chest. "Today I was gonna talk about kickass jobs. You know, the kind that people do a double-take about and get real interested in. Move star, race car driver, helicopter pilot, secret service agent... Not that you'd be talkin' much about bein' that last one if you were, yo."

And not that Reno was at all biased about it, either. One glance at the black suit he always wore was probably indicator enough of that.

"But then I realized, shit, we can't all be movie stars. Though I gotta give you all props for bein' more willin' to flip the bird than half my first class in this subject, yo. So I got to thinkin' a bit harder. Everyone had somethin' they wanted to be when they were kids, right? Firefighters, nurses, ballerinas, whatever? An' not everybody is gonna grow up to be those things. Sucks, but it's true, yo."

He grinned as he shifted back to sit on the top of his desk. "But that don't mean that wherever you end up has gotta suck, either. This class is about attitude, Rookies, and so's the rest of your life. What did you guys wanna be when you grew up? What do you wanna be now? How are you gonna get there? Or, if you already are there, how are you gonna make it as awesome as those fantasies you had as a little kid of flyin' around with a cape, bringin' power to the people with your lightning hands before beatin' up monsters and signin' autographs for millions of screamin' fans?"

Not that Reno, as a small child, had ever had such fantasies. Shut up.

There was a dungeon prepared for the students once again. Only this time the teachers were both there and looked slightly uncomfortable.

"Last week was a thing that we're gonna call non-canonical," Magnus said slowly.

"Which means it would be very ill-advised to mention it in any way shape or form." From Cara that was basically a friendly reminder.

Magnus nodded eagerly along with that. You know, for the sake of the kids here. "So today is gonna be pretty straight forward. Survive this spooky dungeon."

Ignore the excited yips and barks coming from within.

Cara sighed. "Remember you'll only triumph with the power of friendship." Going along with this was the closest Magnus was getting to an apology for hitting him in the face.
