It really could have been warmer for a first period class, so Kitty had the students come to the Danger Shop, because her quiet beach was a just slightly uncomfortable 85 degrees and sunny.

"Today's a holiday, and Memorial Day is really there to remember fallen service members, but it's also become the unofficial start of summer. Yes, that's weird. People get the day off- usually- and you head to a barbecue, or to the beach or whatever to, I dunno celebrate that you're off and it's finally nice out? Normally the beach would be very crowded, but since this is fake, it's not. So, for class just get in the water. You can swim or just wade in,or dip your toes in and then hang out on the beach. Easy enough, right?"

The stacks were oddly well-lit today. Like, excessively well-lit. Someone-was-following-Tip-around-with-a-sun-lamp well-lit. Tip frowned, having to shade her eyes and sweating through her t-shirt while she reshelved books, then finally spotted the little book about the various effects and benefits of sunlight hopping along the tops of the shelves and aiming its bright shiny sunbeaming pages at her as much as possible.

Apparently it felt bad that it had been so rainy lately and was trying to single-handedly restore her vitamin D levels.

Tip had to spend most of the day thanking it gently while trying to trap it in a corner so she could close it and hold it down with two nice, large texts about skin damage and light pollution, just to keep from going blind.

It was too warm by half around the ship for reasons Edward couldn't fathom, and apparently it was a holiday. So he discarded whatever half-baked class plans he had and dropped a rowboat by the pier.

"You lot figured out how to row a fortnite ago, don't you?" Edward said merrily. "I daresay we should give it another shot, across the bay. What d'you reckon?"

Spoiler: they would not get a say.
