It was too warm by half around the ship for reasons Edward couldn't fathom, and apparently it was a holiday. So he discarded whatever half-baked class plans he had and dropped a rowboat by the pier.

"You lot figured out how to row a fortnite ago, don't you?" Edward said merrily. "I daresay we should give it another shot, across the bay. What d'you reckon?"

Spoiler: they would not get a say.

Yeah, Uma was definitely inching closer to her roommate. If anybody asked why, she'd say she was dibsing him for the rowboat.

Breq hadn't spent much time on boats, but rowing wasn't that complicated. The heat didn't bother her that much, but she had to wipe sweat from her face constantly.

Should anyone ask her, she would happily row them across.
