"I will say one thing," said Amaya, once the students made it into the Danger Shop, which was set up like a workshop with all the familiar tools and trimmings, and got settled, "this place sure knows how to throw some...interesting things your way. And interesting things can sometimes be weirdly inspiring. I got this idea for class stuck in my head, and how it works out will be another interesting thing.

"Now, as I'm sure quite a few of you did, I had a kid show up this weekend, claimin' to be mine, even though that doesn't make one lick of sense. Nice kid, though, I think she'd have gotten along real well with the lot of you. But that's not the point. The girl was called was Zephyr," and here Amaya turned to a chalkboard behind her and wrote the name vertically, a column of letters, "but her real name was... Zenobia.." She wrote the word out from the Z, "Eduarda," that one from the E, "Percival," from the P, "Hector," yadda yadda yadda, "Yamaya Ramos Jr. the Fourth of Daventry.

"This is a terrible thing to do to a kid," Amaya said, "don't do this to your kid." Even if she apparently had. "But I got to thinking, while it's a terrible way to name a kid, it's not a bad idea for a Creative Weaponry class. Today, we're going to make acrostic weapons. You're going to take the letters of your name and each letter stands for each component of your weapon. This means some of you with longer or shorter names might have a more challenging time, but that's part of the fun of it.

"For an example, here's mine," Amaya said, pulling out a flail that looked straight out of the produce section...which she had, admittedly, been stocking when the idea hit her. "The apple, the avocado, and the apricot are the three As in my name, and I strung them all together in a line using the string from a yo-yo for my Y. And the handle, of course, is a mop handle that I shortened to make it a better size."

She gave a stupidly proud grin. "Not the most effective weapons, but we're not going to practicality today. So now it's your turn. Take a few moments to think about what you'd like to use. All letters of your name should be incorporated in some way. I'll input your list into the shop to get the materials for you and then you can get to work. Lemme know if you have any questions, and good luck!"

"Today," Hannibal said, "I hope you are ready to exercise your creativity. We have worked with gelatin, and we have covered cutting techniques and working with tools. Today, we make gelatin art.

He showed them a finished cake, then the tools. "This is more sculpture than culinary art, but presentation and art can be a large part of any meal." He brought out a clear cake that looked much like a larger version of their raindrop cakes and demonstrated how to make several of the flowers.

"We have enough cakes here, large and small, for everybody to practice on several, and the proper dyes to make any color you like. If you have questions or need help, please ask. Otherwise, enjoy."

(Hannibal's cake comes from here. This guy's stuff looks awesome.)

Khadgar had been totally fine with not getting a little visitor at the start of the weekend. The last thing he needed was a child following him around while he tried to read or study. Then, he'd gotten to thinking about the son he'd had last year... if he didn't return, did that mean that somehow Khadgar had stopped that potential future from happening? Or did something happen to that version of Fandom?

He was keeping himself distracted for the moment by cleaning the desk and putting away a surprising number of hardcover books, but he couldn't pretend he was in an exceedingly happy mood.

They were in teh same classroom as last week.

"I probably should've brought this up last class," Aphra said, because she was perfectly capable of self-reflections (just not acting on it). "But teenage pregnancy. It's a bad idea. Don't. In fact it's such a bad idea that you're all wearing fake pregnancy bellies so you can understand just one of the many reasons it's not. Actually you should probably wear them the rest of the day."

All of them. Including the boys.
