Peridot had brought Pumpkin with her to work again today. Not because she couldn't bear to part with her for a few hours - though she still hated doing that, granted - but because there were tiny strands of metallic-coated polyvinyl chloride everywhere and Pumpkin kept trying to eat them. Pumpkin didn't even need to eat, and Peridot wasn't completely certain that doing so would hurt her, but she wasn't about to take any chances.

So, a Pumpkin in the library, where Peridot was keeping her in her lap, where there would be no chance of her wandering off and eating more random shiny strands.
