"Hope you all had fun writing your ghost stories, because it's time to make them go away," Daria greeted the class as she had them start passing up their work. "This week I'm going to have to work on something longer. Your theme is 'stranger in a strange land.' It can be any genre, whether it's a person shot into space, or someone at the wedding of someone they don't know. I want it to be at least twenty pages, to really do some world building in whatever setting you choose. Have fun with that."

Tip had decided at the last minute to participate in Nanowrimo this month -- with her creative writing assignments potentially counting towards her total word count, since she had twenty pages to write for class this week. She had no real idea what the plot of her novel was, just yet. So far it seemed to be about a reclusive book hoarder who slept in his bathtub because literally every other surface of his apartment was filled with stacks of books. She was rather proud of the detail about even his dishwasher being filled with books.

Mostly, though, she was getting really good at finding things to procrastinate from writing. It was probably her most library-task-productive shift at the library yet.

"I hope all of you remembered your egg children and have not accidentally left them in the refrigerator for the last week," Anakin commented dryly from the front of the class.

"I don't believe we detected any undue temperature fluctuations," Obi-Wan said dryly. "Probably."

"I can still go back and check," Anakin added. "But hopefully you learned some valuable lessons about ethics and people being judgmental about other humans hauling around eggs and pretending that they are offspring."

...probably not the real point of the lesson, Anakin.

"I suppose that's one way to look at it," Obi-Wan said mildly. "Be glad we didn't give you ones that cried this year."

"They're much more realistic," Anakin added, nodding, "but the eggs are traditional."

"So let's see yours, shall we?"

Today the students were in a small room with a computer for each of them. Think of any movie you've seen where the token hacker spent half the climax of the movie while the stars did action things. It looked like that.

"We've talked about ethics and ways not to use these sorts of skills, so we're not going into it again," Kitty assured them. "But today you're going to try and patch into the security cameras to a small fictional town in Everywhere, USA. You're going to try and bypass government security protocols to keep an eye on things and look for suspicious activity. You each have a tablet with all the info you need, and there are some tips if you get stuck. Take a minute to look them over, and then see how far you get."
