The home ec classroom was reasonably well decked out, Eliot was pleased to find. He'd sworn off the Danger Shop for at least the semester, and had been a little worried that this would mean trying to teach the kids how to cook pasta on a hot plate using buckets of water. But the room was lined in little kitchenettes, complete with small fridges, stoves, ovens, and sinks, each with its own set of cabinets full of dishes and cleaning supplies. The center of the room was dominated by long wooden tables, each with ample storage and several electrical outlets set into the floor beneath them, so he wouldn't have to worry about snaking extension cords all over when they got to using sewing machines and the like.

Not half damn bad, if you asked Eliot.

The front of the front of the room had a big friendly white board on it, on which was written "HOME EC" in foot-tall letters, with "Eliot Spencer" in more standard sized letters beneath it. Eliot himself sat behind the teacher's desk with his feet up, reading a book. There was a sheet of instructions at every seat.

"Following instructions is important," said the board. "Please read all instructions on the worksheet before beginning. You have ten minutes."

At the end of the ten minute period for instruction-following, Eliot sat up and put his book aside. "Right. So there's a nice lesson in how schools like to catch you out and make you look silly if you don't do what you're told." He shrugged. "My home ec teacher pulled that on me when I was your age. I think maybe one kid in the class actually did it 'right'. And about five of us smart asses had explanations as to why the 'right way' to do it was wrong." He shrugged. "Welcome to Home Ec. Instructions are gonna be important a lot of the time in here, if nothin' else to keep you from accidentally mixing together poison gas trying to clean your kitchen. But I promise that's the last trick I'm gonna pull on you in here." He walked around to the front of the desk and leaned against it. "It's the first week, so I'm guessin' you all know what that means around here: introductions. Tell me your name, what kind of livin' arrangements you have at home, and what you're hopin' to learn about in this class, please. I'll start us off: I'm Eliot Spencer. You can call me 'Eliot' or 'Mr. Spencer,' whichever you're comfortable with. I live in a four story house on the other side of town with my partners, but I've lived alone most of my adult life, so most of all this stuff was up to me. And I'm apparently gonna end up learnin' to knit with y'all, so I guess that might be fun." He pointed to one of the students. "Now, how 'bout you?"

"Hey, guys!" Vanessa said cheerily at the beginning of today's class. "So, I am Vanessa Carlysle, and I am planning my wedding. And it is a lot of work. Now, sure, you can just go down to the courthouse and get married with no fuss, but then you don't get presents." Hashtag priorities. "Or cake. So you've got to figure out where you're having the wedding, and when, and no that venue isn't available then, so you've got to reevaluate, and then you've got to pick out the dress and the colors and the bridesmaids dresses, and Candi's getting a boob job next week so she needs to wait to buy her dress until they heal, and the cake and the flowers and the music and do you want to pay extra to rent the fancy chairs? Do you want an open bar? Your friends drink a lot, but not having an open bar is seen as cheap. And with your friends, do you want to hire extra security? Maybe some paramedics? Oh, and speaking of the reception, do you need to book a whole second venue for that? And the food, what about the food? It's a million details, and if you're not scared yet, you should be. So, the good news is, my wedding is almost planned--it's in three months--and I've learned a few things!

"So here's how this class is going to work. You're going to plan a fictional event. Could be a wedding, could be a fancy birthday party, could be something else. Each week, we'll cover a different part of the event, until at the end you should have everything planned out and ready to go. Now, if at some point in the semester something happens, and you don't want to work on that event any more, say, suddenly weddings are traumatic for you, that's fine, but you have to pick a new event and do all the back work on it on your own time. This week, I want you to take a little time to decide what kind of event you'll be working on, and then introduce yourself and tell me a bit about your event. Okay? Okay."

Bond held his class int eh Danger Shop, because when it came to tempting fate, it was the lesser of two evils. The shop itself resembled a racetrack with several very expensive looking cars off to the side, so his basic go to driver's ed sim.

"Welcome to Training Wheels," Bond greeted his class once they'd arrived. "Where we will be going over a number of advanced driver's education subjects both in terms of technique and vehicles. However, since I've been teaching here far too long, first we'll be having introductions both to each other and to the basics of driving." Because like he'd said, he'd been teaching here far too long.

He pointed to a random student. "So, name, class, if you actually know how to drive, and something you hope to gain from the class."
