Jono only looked mildly peevish today, thanks to a headache he'd woken up with that morning that didn't seem at all inclined to leave him be, no matter how much he tried to just reason with it. He clearly wasn't a fan.

He also had a pair of newsboy hats with him, one in each hand. This presumably had something to do with today's activity. Presumably.

//Fairly straightforward one today,// he shared. //Pair off, play out any bloody scene you choose, and the aim of the game is to take the other player's hat off his head. You need to find a way to justify it within the scene you're playing, like perhaps there's a wasp in the room and you want to grab for it to swat the thing. The other player will have to justify why they can't give up their hat for the cause, as well. Basically, any move to take or keep your hat will need to make sense in the scene you're playing. Now, grab a hat, pair off, and go.//

Hats was a nice, straightforward game. Today was a good day for straightforward. If anyone needed Jono, he'd be sitting down in the theatre seating, more or less paying attention. With his eyes closed.

"Let's try this again," Ghanima said crisply once the students had arrived in the Danger Shop. She was steadfastly ignoring the chickens that kept popping in-and-out of existence around the edges of the room. "Last week, you saw how charging blindly into a situation and swinging wildly was a terrible idea. A plethora of mistakes were made, to say the least, but there's a number of reasons a plan could fall apart, and you should never panic. Panic is what will loose you the battle and the war."

"Sometimes, your plan comes apart because of people like Mr. Jenkins. Maybe you tried to keep your simple plan a secret to guarantee success, but someone didn't react as you thought they would, or their motives changed, rendering your plan inept. Maybe your leaders overlooked something, or thought they could adapt faster than the plan deteriorated. Or perhaps you never had a plan to start with."

"Today, you will learn how to plan on the fly." Ghanima gestured to the chess boards and decks of cards set up around the room. "There's directions at each table, if you've never played, and I am happy to assist if you need further explanation. But no matter how your 'fight' goes, do not panic."

"We hope you had a nice holiday last week," Tony said once class arrived. "Even if it's not one where you're from, there's usually a lot of food around on island."

Because he'd learned all about the delivery people, yes.

And just wait until stuff started falling from the sky in December!

"And we're heading further into the holiday season as well," Steve said, "which a lot of people get really excited about. But I'm not sure we need to start decorating for it in September."

"It's festive," Tony chimed in. Because someone had to take that position. And that someone was him. "How else will we know the holidays are approaching? I know I gauge my passage of time by the Starbucks cups."

Tony was possibly not taking this seriously.

"I know it's old fashioned," Steve drawled, "but maybe a calendar?"

"Never heard of it," Tony replied, pretending to give it serious consideration. "Does it also provide coffee?"

"No, but there might be an app for it in your phone," Steve teased.

Guys, class.

Tony stifled a laugh before turning his attention back to the topic at hand. "It's another easy topic--" That would become more personal once the island went Advent happy. "--so, try to have fun with it."
