Bond's class was back in the Danger Shop, on the edge of a pit of something...goopy. A number of floating platforms stretched across the pit, slowly moving forwards and backward and up and down, crossing each other's paths.

"Good afternoon, and today it's all about the landing," Bond told them. "As you'll be participating in competitive falling over, where the goal is to get from one side of the room to another via jumping from platform to platform, trying not to fall into the pit, though only your dignity's in any real danger. Do note the platforms aren't exactly stable."

The Danger Shop was actually set up to look like a traditional shop classroom again, wonder of wonders. Though anyone peeking through any of the simulated windows or doors that didn't lead back into reality would see the junkyard lurking just outside.

Eliot was still considering this a personal victory.

"Hope you all had fun last week," he said. "Even if you were a bit disappointed you were throwin' the food instead of eating it. This week I thought we'd get back to basics a little, and focus back in on woodworking. We've done a bit with moving parts already, but for the most part that's been with kits or found materials. Today we're gonna create our own, and put together some wooden toys. Now I know you all have probably outgrown these sorts of things by a fair distance. Some of ya probably never even played with a simple wood toy growin' up at all, for whatever reason. But even a simple toy, like a wood push toy," Eliot displayed a pair of pictures of sleek, modern wood toys on the projection screen, "can have real artistry in it. The key in that case is not to get too fancy. Make yourself a nice simple shape, with two symmetrical sides, four wheels, and if you like, a pole or leash for a kid to push or drag it around with. Or if that sounds a bit too easy for ya, you could branch out, try your hand at something with more joints in it." This time it was a wood robot, anthropomorphic and posable. "You can go for simple pin hinges, or if you want to get fancy, give carving a ball-and-socket a whirl. And of course, if you really want to get fancy," this time he called up a video showing a piece with multiple wooden parts in action, "you can start working with mechanics and gears. All wood, mind you. That's your real challenge here. It's easy enough to find some gears out in the junkyard or pull 'em from a workin' machine and repurpose them. Makin' 'em yourself, and getting a smooth, easy motion out of it, that's a trick."

He shut off the projector and nodded to the students. "So. Get to work."

"Hi, everybody!" Cecil waved.

Class had been handwavily advised to meet in front of the school today, and he made sure to count heads. "Let's make sure we come back with the same number. And the same ones," he advised Kanan.

To the class, he said excitedly, "We've got a movie day today! One of immortal film actor Lee Marvin's classics, Gone with the Wind."

Kanan had no idea who Lee Marvin was, or what Gone With the Wind was about, or even what to make of film in general. Still. He'd be just as happy going to see some cheaply made holo by some sleemo director who mostly dealt in pornography, but since this was a class trip and all, he was taking Cecil's word for it and sticking with the classics.

"Apparently around here, popcorn and soda are customary while you're watching one of these things on a big screen," he offered as they made their way to the theater, "so you each get a voucher for the snack bar to redeem on the way in. And try not to distract the other people in the audience too much during the show. They paid to be there, presumably."

Did the MST 3000 pay close attention to people coming in? Presumably not. After all, these ding-dongs were allowed to enter the building with a class in tow.

"And afterwards, we can talk about different kinds of entertainment where you're from, and how this compares," Cecil offered. "It'll probably be better, but then, everybody's got different tastes, and some of them are weird."

Truer words were never spoken.
