Cara's class had been told to meet her in the salle, where various training dummies, a few heavy bags, protective gear, practice weapons and the like had been set up.

"As those of you I've taught before hopefully suspected, you're actually having your final this week," she deadpanned. "Surprise.

"Now I've been told that I can't actually make you fight each other for final marks." It wasn't even like it had going to have been to the death, or anything. "So instead I'm going to have you prove you've been listening by demonstrating the kind of hitting that makes you feel better. So you can punch the bags, you can go up against the training dummies, if you can find a partner you can spar. Simple enough."

"Next week," Bob informed the students, "will be your final. So I thought I'd give you all a rare opportunity. You tell me, what else would you like to learn about this semester? "Now you might think that today's ride is just like a car at first. After all, you share a highway with them! But," Brian said, and clicked a button on the Danger Shop remote, "not quite." The students' rides for the day shimmered into existence. "Think mass," Brian instructed. "And think size. Your trailers are loaded, that's going to provide drag. Top speed on these things is not very much. They do not turn on a dime, they do not stop on a dime, and taking out other motorists is generally a bad idea. Now, I'm not going to put you on the highway at rush hour or anything, but there will be traffic, and if you take out another car then obviously that won't do any damage to your ride, but you will be sent back to the starting line. Any questions? Good. Drivers, to your vehicles."

He led the class through a discussion of the Vietnam War and an explanation of the Watergate scandal. "Richard Nixon is widely considered the worst president in American history. Do any of you have an argument for anyone else?"
