Bond had the projector set up again today.

"As it's an Olympic year, it seems only fitting that we examine the kind of films that are viewed as embodying the Olympic spirit." he said after greeting the class.

Pity, then, that there had been a terrible mix-up with the tapes.

When the students arrived today, they'd find guns set out for them again, some small and compact and some larger with more firepower. Instead of stationary targets, there were targets swinging at a variety of speeds behind him.

"Hey, so a lot of you said you wanted practice with guns when we first met, because you didn't use them very often, or because you think you might need to use them at some point at home. I figured practice hitting a moving target might help--you can pick whatever speed you want, and we'll see how you guys do."

"Welcome back, everyone," Tahiri said, and up at the front of the room, near her on the desk, there was a large bowl of leftover Easter candy because she didn't know how she'd ended up with so much of it in the first place and teenagers were more likely to appreciate it. "Remember how Sun Tzu talked about six types of ground in last week's chapter? Well . . . there are nine varieties of it that he talks about in this week's chapter, but the previous chapter was speaking in terms of advantage and disadvantage. This chapter is called 'The Nine Situations,' and it's more about recognizing your circumstances and planning accordingly. For instance, he advises that if you're in your own territory, you want to avoid a fight; if you're in a position that puts you in contact with allies, use them. Is your situation secure enough that you can afford to spend some time working on a side project or two without compromising your main goal, or do you have to act right away?"

Guess who had a record of being terrible at recognizing that there were situations where you didn't have to act right away? No, wait, don't guess.

Strike at its head, and you will be attacked by its tail; strike at its tail, and you will be attacked by its head; strike at its middle, and you will be attacked by head and tail both. )

The Danger Shop was set up for a movie day today, with comfy chairs and bean bags and a refreshment counter just like at the movies, only without the outrageous price-gouging. By the time the students arrived, Hardison was settled in, long legs stretched over several bean bags, eating popcorn that looked like it had been liberally dusted with the same orange cheese-flavored powder that covered Cheetos. A super-sized bag of gummy frogs and a two-liter of Orange Squeeze sat on the floor next to him.

"Hey, y'all," he said, giving them a wave. "So, I decided that y'all deserve a movie day today. Come in, get comfy, get some snacks, an' we'll watch an old classic about adventures on the high seas."

After everyone got their snacks and settled, Hardison hit a button and the movie sprang to life around them, giving them a 3D view, as if they were sitting on the stage in the middle of a play. Unfortunately, rather than starting at the beginning, it started almost a quarter of the way through, when the main characters were already on the ship and underway on the voyage to the island. "Oh, sorry 'bout that," Hardison said, and hit another button.

And suddenly their snacks and chairs were gone. Rather than being observers in the middle of the set, they were part of the movie now, onboard a pirate ship, on the open sea.

"...This was not what I had planned," Hardison muttered.
