"So apparently my co-teacher is a wolverine this week," Pinkie said cheerfully. "I bet he's having loads of fun that way. In the meantime, I thought it might be best if we don't wander off too far for today's class. So we're going to go to -- THE ZOO!"

Pinkie was super excited about this. She hoped you were, too. "The Smithsonian National Zoo is right nearby Fandom Island, down in Washington, DC, and it's got loads of different animals from all over the world! Including some of the earth's only real wild ponies, Pree -- preh -- purr -- some funny name horses! Apparently all the other ponies are feral or domesticated. Which is a difference, I guess. Also there are big cats and bears and buffalos and birds. Little animals and big animals and water animals and sky animals and all sorts! It sounds like loads of fun. Let's get going!"

Cosette was not going to let this week keep her from showing up at the library for her shift, not at all. She took her job very seriously, thank you.

She just . . . might keep disappearing into the romance novel section intermittently all day, though. It seemed to be more in need of organization this week for some reason . . .

(Not literally disappearing. That had to be clarified.)

Remembering how you were freezing in Russia a few weeks ago, kids? That's not the problem today. "Welcome to Egypt," Anakin said, squinting into the sun as it beat down on them all. Did it matter that it was a dry heat when it was 86 degrees and not yet noon? Ugh, and sand was everywhere. "These are the pyramids of Giza, some of which are the largest structures anywhere on this planet."

"They are considered some of the greatest wonders this planet has ever seen," Obi-Wan said. "An architectural marvel, constructed at a time when Earth civilizations were still relatively young. They house the bodies and possessions of ancient kings."

"They're covered in sand," Anakin said, making a face. "But this is where civilization on this planet began, thousands of years ago. And while you still have a way to go--" Anakin, be nice, "--it is important to immerse yourself in the history of what came before. Today's pair activity will begin here, and then we will go back into the capital city of Cairo."

"Please be respectful, both of the ruins and of the local population," Obi-Wan said. After a pause, he added, smirking only a little, "I would also recommend sunscreen."

"So that the sand can stick to it," Anakin commented bitterly.

"Anakin," Obi-Wan said, rubbing his nose, "We have had this discussion a million times. The sand is not stalking you."

"It gets everywhere," Anakin whined.

Obi-Wan sighed. "You may begin," he said, "Before An-- Master Skywalker has a meltdown."

Too late.

Bob was a weirdly Bob combination of smug and disgruntled this week - on the one hand, the pollen couldn't affect him. On the other...it couldn't affect him, damn it. It was a trade-off.

"This week's lesson's rather timely, as it happens," he told the students once they arrived. "Now that you've all had a chance to learn a bit about magic, you need to learn more about how to fight it. Which starts, once again, with knowing it's there. Influence isn't always as up-front as a rock yelling in your head. If you want to find out something's in your mind that doesn't belong, you have to learn your own mind first."

He waved at the room, which became a dimly green-lit place, with plush cushions and low couches all over and gentle music in the background. "Most techniques to do that are fairly similar and start with meditation. It also happens to be a very good way to calm yourself down. Get comfortable, and we'll begin."
