This week, Sam was up at the front of the class with the TV and VCR on one side of him, and a well-used box of tissues on the other.

"Hey guys," he said, before breaking off into a small sneezing fit, which was followed by quiet cursing about the ineffectualness of Dayquil. "So, uh, part of being on an island where people come from different places involves learning about different religions. A lot of the time, people think of religions as having a single god, or multiple gods and goddesses, who look out for their followers, answer their prayers, and greet them in some shiny afterlife location if they've been good people throughout their lives." Sam laughed softly, shaking his head. "Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Pagan gods in particular can be really capricious, even to the people who are most devoted to them. Zeus fathered a ridiculous amount of children with immortal and mortal women alike, and there are multiple trickster gods out there who love to give people exactly what they want, but in the way they least want it. I was planning on discussing--" a.k.a. potentially boring them all to death "--some different gods, but I think my head might explode if I stand up here for much longer, so we're going to watch a movie instead." Sam smirked at them. "I hope you'll be able to forgive me."

"Hey, class," Atton greeted lightly. "Welcome back to the world of the not-giant-murder-lizards. Now, last week went perfectly smoothly, for which I'm grateful. But what if it hadn't?"

He gestured at the jungle in the Danger Shop behind him.

"Somewhere in these woods are four giant dino-dragons," he said. (He knew perfectly well what the right word was. He just wasn't using it.) "They want to eat you. Some of the areas have fences, but you can only get in those if you find the right computer terminal to open up the doors and sneak in. There's some buildings; you'll find weapons in there, too. Which you're going to need, because all you're getting from me--"

He slapped some tasers down on the table and finished, "Is this."

He nodded at the class. "Your purpose is to either escape the sim to somewhere behind the fences, or kill all the dino-whatsits. Your call."

And with that, he hit a button. Music began to play.

Darkness fell.
