Class met at the Portalocity office, today, where Eliot and Parker waited.

"So we're gonna do somethin' slightly different, today," Eliot said, bouncing ever so slightly on his toes. God, but he loved having two functional legs. "Basically a field trip."

“We’ll be grabbing water, sunscreen, snacks and so on when we get there,” Parker added, looking pretty buzzed. “Hurry up! Last one through winds up in Budapest!”

"That's not true." Eliot really hoped it wasn't true, he was going to take the end of the line and he never much liked Budapest. "Parker, no sending anyone to Budapest!"

Parker snickered. Eliot, you just stay easy.

When they got through the portal, they’d find themselves at the beginning of the Virginia Creeper Trail, with mountain bikes, safety equipment, and extra supplies waiting.

"Welcome to the Virginia Creeper Trail," Eliot said. "One of the longest continuous biking trails around. It's got somethin' for everyone, nice scenery, historic railroad bridges, some easy rides -- and some sharp downhills for you speed demons."

“Okay! Whoever has never ridden a bike before, stick with Eliot. He’ll help you out.” She gave them her most manic grin. “If you have, super. Get set up!”

"That includes helmets!" Eliot noted, giving Parker a pointed look. "For everyone, regardless of skill level. Trust me, you don't want a concussion. They suck a lot."

“If they crack their skull open, they’ll learn,” Parker said with a snort.

"Or they'll die and you'll be sad." They should maybe not talk about students dying. "Which is way less likely to happen if you all follow directions and wear a goddamn bike helmet. It ain't dorky if everyone's doin' it."

Today Bond was holding class at the movie theatre. Three guesses what it was going to involve.

"Good afternoon, now apparently it was one of those weekends," not that he'd been paying that much attention. "So today's example of a relaxing activity is also an example of one of the traditional fallback classes when teachers and students might have been dealing with more stress than usual. Namely watching a film."

Today Ben had moved the finished go-karts to the top of Griffith Way so they could shoot down and across the causeway. A small gaggle of rickshaw drivers with "yeah, we told you it wasn't easy" looks on their face were already watching on the sidewalk.

"Today we're going to race the go-karts," he announced with a grin, "and then we're going to work on something for next week: flying crafts. I'm going to build a platform over by the docks and after the race today, we'll go back to the Danger Shop where you have to build a contraption with a maximum wingspan of 28 feet, max height of 10 feet, max length of 20 feet, and max weight of 400 pounds, including the pilot. It can't use stored energy, ropes, or pulleys. to launch off the platform--whoever's ship goes the furthest wins."

He grinned. "I have some footage of a similar event back in the Danger Shop for us to watch, too. Anyway, let's get this race going. On your marks, get set...go!"

Push yourselves down the hill and go, go, go!

When the students entered the Danger Shop today they would probably notice that the simulation looked nothing like the planet Earth. In fact it looked like something out of a black and white B-Movie. In fact the entire simulation appeared to make everyone look like they were in a black and white movie.

Jones stood in the middle of the simulation looking unaffected by the whole thing. "I apologize class as we will not be researching primitive cultures today as-"

A holographic image appeared showing a rather deragned looking man. "SPACEMONAUTS!" He shouted. "Disaster has struck! The evil aliens known as the Engimarons have stolen's Earth's Niffugma! The linchpin for all of Earth's extra terrestrial defenses! They have taken it into this bunker to calibrate it to their weaponry! We must recover the Niffugma before all is lost! Into the bunker, Spacemonauts! ... Oh, and watch out for booby-traps."

The image blipped out and Jones continued on as if she wasn't interrupted.

"-we will be doing a rather fanciful science fiction simulation. Please change into your jumpsuits and try to enjoy it. The booby traps will do you no harm but you will not be able to progress any further in the simulation."
