When the students entered the Danger Shop today they would probably notice that the simulation looked nothing like the planet Earth. In fact it looked like something out of a black and white B-Movie. In fact the entire simulation appeared to make everyone look like they were in a black and white movie.

Jones stood in the middle of the simulation looking unaffected by the whole thing. "I apologize class as we will not be researching primitive cultures today as-"

A holographic image appeared showing a rather deragned looking man. "SPACEMONAUTS!" He shouted. "Disaster has struck! The evil aliens known as the Engimarons have stolen's Earth's Niffugma! The linchpin for all of Earth's extra terrestrial defenses! They have taken it into this bunker to calibrate it to their weaponry! We must recover the Niffugma before all is lost! Into the bunker, Spacemonauts! ... Oh, and watch out for booby-traps."

The image blipped out and Jones continued on as if she wasn't interrupted.

"-we will be doing a rather fanciful science fiction simulation. Please change into your jumpsuits and try to enjoy it. The booby traps will do you no harm but you will not be able to progress any further in the simulation."

Not much of a lecture but feel free to chat a you get ready for adventure!

Really, after the bike helmet and the training wheels in her last class, the jumpsuit didn't feel that much sillier.

She was a bit confused as to how this was historical, but it still seemed like it would be fun. Weird fun.

It wouldn't be a Jones class without such nonsense, Cassandra supposed.

She didn't have any intention of chatting, but she was most definitely sighing.

SPACE JUMPSUITS!

Oh yeah, Kathy was absolutely down for this. It was the comic geek in her.

As you enter the bunker you find that it is filled with SPACE SPIDERS!

Which are like spiders but from space.

Squish them and try not to get bitten!

Okay, even if they were space spiders, this was still a pretty easy booby trap to get through. Kathy was fast and spiders were small and even if she missed a few, surely her SPACE JUMPSUIT would protect her from getting bitten.

She got through the bunker in a series of flips, handsprings, and cartwheels. Because that was clearly the most efficient way to get from point A to point B, wasn't it?

After escaping the spiders, the class will find them outside an entrance which has beams of light streaming across the opening.

The image of the crazy person appears again, this time on a wall.

"You have successfully taken care of the space spiders!" Dr. Disaster declares. "But beware the next trap! If you interrupt the beams of light you will be squished by the DOORS OF DOOM!"

Well, not really. You'll just hear a buzzing noise as the holographic doors close on you and you're out of the simulation.

Also is it really a trap if you know about it in advance? Oh, well. ADVENTURE ON SPACEMONAUTS!

Thank you, Parker. Last semester, Kathy'd had a class that was based entirely on by-passing a laser grid. If they'd had foil or mirrors, Kathy could build an optical shield that would bounce the lasers off into another direction, but she didn't. Oh no! Looked like time for more gymnastics.

...Kathy was having fun. Was it obvious yet that Kathy was having fun?

You have successfully passed the DOORS OF DOOM!

However there's a big crevasse you have to jump across with nasty looking spikes at the bottom.

JUMP FOR IT SPACEMONAUTS!

Pffft, big cravasse? Maybe if you couldn't build up a ton of speed and then bounce your way across!

When Kathy was done with this whole thing, she was going to ask if she could go again.

Ahhhh! You have jumped successfully and now you can see the glowing Niffugma sitting unguarded at the end of the chamber.

The image of Dr. Disaster appears before you. "Looks safe, doesn't it Spacemonauts? But BEWARE! The oddly colored floor tiles will trigger a laser cannon! Do not step on the oddly colored floor tiles or you will meet your DOOM!"

Onward, Spacemonauts. Try not to get shot.

"This is the most considerate supervillain I've ever met," Kathy said aloud. "Thanks for the tip, sir!"

And step and flip and bounce and step. Flip and handspring bounce!

You have reached the Niffugma! It's so shiny...

But when you pick it up you trigger a booby trap. Sorry about that!

Now a giant round space boulder is rolling toward you.

"RUN SPACEMONAUTS!" Dr. Disaster shouts. "You must go back the way you came in and avoid all the traps you've already encountered!"

Well. What are you waiting for? RUN!

Kathy turned and ran, trying not to laugh the entire way, and keeping an eye out for anywhere she could dart to the left or right and, therefore, not get hit by the giant rock rolling in a straight line right for her.

As you run out of the bunker after avoiding all the traps and the giant space boulder, you will find yourself being chased by a bunch of aliens with giant feet but no arms.

"It's Enigmarons! RUN! TO THE SPACESHIP, SPACEMONAUTS!" Dr. Disaster shouted. "TO SAFETY!"

So. Yeah. More running. Avoid getting trampled by the Enigmarons. Who have feet but no arms.

How did they even steal that thing anyway?

No matter. RUN!

Look, unless the Enigmarons could run in excess of 90 miles an hour, Kathy didn't have anything to worry about. In fact, she wasn't even going to hit her top sprinting speed unless any of them started closing in on her.

She was starting to think that this Dr. Disaster character might not be a supervillain after all. If he was, then he was terribly concerned for their well-being.

"Well done, Spacemonauts," Dr. Disaster says solemnly as what was left of the class entered the spaceship. "You have saved Earth from a terrible peril... for now."

The image of Dr. Disaster blips out.

That'll do, Spacemonauts. That'll do.

Kathy gave his hologram a small wave before it blipped out. "Thank you!" she said. "Anytime!"

Who has been monitoring your performance. She shows no sign of amusement whatsoever.

Then again she has never shown any sign of amusement, so no big deal.

ADVENTURE!
