"Our first topic for this semester is a city near to my heart," Bruce said, diving right into it. "I want you to understand both where I'm coming from and the degree to which a city can leave an impression on you, so we'll be discussing Gotham City. Specifically, the Gotham City of my younger days, which roughly lines up with the technology and social construction you're familiar with from 2015 America."

Long Story Short: Crime was bad. Eventually crime got weird. )

"But to take up the rest of our time today, you have a discussion. This will be the case during our lecture weeks, so be prepared moving forward," Bruce warned. "You will be looking at your city - or wherever it is that you would consider your primary home - and tell the rest of the class what the worst thing about it is. In case it's not clear, the worst thing about Gotham is the historic levels - and audacity - of crime."

It was time, once again, for class! Hatter was not on top of his desk this time but he did have a few giant whiteboards out around the classroom. They were a small class so he figured they'd be able to move around easily.

"Hello!" he greeted, giving them all a nod. "And welcome back to class! Today, we're going to do something light and something easy. When you start a business, it usually begins because you have an idea. Most people don't buy space, hire staff, start advertising without an idea that's driving them. So today, we're going to come up with an idea."

He gestured to the whiteboards. "These whiteboards are for two things. One, the idea of your business. Whether it be food, clothes, electronics, whatever. And the second whiteboard is for the name of your business. Can't really get anything going without a name, can you? So, I want each of you to come up to the whiteboards, write your idea and then come up with a name for your idea. Make it a good name too because a terrible name can automatically doom your business."

With that, he set the students off and leaned back to watch.

Once again, Jono and Rinoa's class were going to find themselves meeting in a classroom. And once again, they'd find their teachers standing at the front of the room, looking… about as ready as anybody could possibly look, while teaching this particular pack of students.

//Hello again,// Jono said, nodding once it looked as though everyone had taken their seats. //And welcome back. Good to see we didn't scare you off last week, because this week, we're going to talk about more of the same… you. Last week, we discussed a bit about who you are. This week, we're going to stretch things a little, to talk about who it is you might become.//

There weren't any clairvoyants in the room, were there? Not that it mattered, but that could be an interesting insight to have at one's disposal for this lesson.

Today Cara's class was in the Danger Shop. This should have been a warning to those who'd taken her previous classes.

After collecting weapons from just inside the door, which should have been their second warning, they stood in a large clearing, which was dotted with conveniently person-sized lumps of debris.

"Teamwork," Cara said, before leaving a pause long enough that they might wonder if that was all they were going to get for a lecture. "Being a lone hero makes for a good story, but unless you're unbelievably good and any potential aid is so utterly incompetent that they're a liability, it'll get you dead. Ideally you'll know and trust those you're fighting beside, but sometimes you don't get that lucky."

She smiled which was your third and final warning there, folks. "Have fun."
