There was no way that Karla was going to be on-island today; the only thing less likely than her wanting to leave the estate right now would be any of her Court actually letting her. But not being there didn't mean her students were lucky enough to get the day off. A quick call to Jono and everything was set up: the proper DVD in the player, microwave popcorn popped, and a quick note taped to the door.

Morning class!
My apologies for missing the second (and likely third) classes of the semester, but I'm not about to get up to teach a little over a week after having a child. Today is a movie day, an excellent film called Strychnine and Old Silk. Help yourself to some popcorn, take a seat and enjoy the movie. Next week, you'll be taking a trip, so come dressed for cold.

Kaylin, if you're here, take roll and press play when the bell rings. If Kaylin isn't here someone else do that.

Best,
Karla.

There was a picture of Kayla attached to the note as well, because of reasons.

Jones office today was no longer a jumble of boxes. All her books were now neatly organized in bookcases throughout the room and her office was tastefully decorated with several antiques. It seemed rather homey.

On her desk was a plate of muffins from JGOB as well as a carafe of coffee for her students to partake if they so wished.

Jones was currently reading an email from one of her former students as she waited for her class to arrive. If it involved a certain amount of hilarity regarding Andrew's first foray into the Gillitie forest, it did not show on Jones' face.

This week around, the Danger Shop had been set up to resemble Fandom. Hey, the sim was in the system, might as well make as much use of it as possible, right?

Atton himself came stomping in more or less on time. "Okay," he yelled, "I had an entire conversation with my mirror this morning that was about as embarrassing as it was traumatizing, which means the island is being a--" ...string of mean Twi'lekki words, apparently, "--and I don't want to deal with it because all of my defense mechanisms are built on a network of carefully constructed lies."

Beat.

"Ugh."

He slapped a blaster onto a table of other blasters.

"So, instead of starting off with the fighting moves I had planned, today, we're shooting things. Silently. Grab one, grab a friend, work on your reflexes."

He pointed at Sparkle. "You, come see me after class, I have something for you. Don't ask questions. That's good advice for everyone here today, actually."

He smashed his fist down on a red button and not entirely realistic-looking monsters suddenly spawned all over town. There.

"Well, you might have noticed by now that every thing you say is true, which totally sucks in a class about bullshitting," Josh said with a pout. "It's like the island was out to get me today or something. I'm feeling pretty paranoid."

Thanks for sharing, Josh.

"So this'll be an experimental class. Today, instead of bullshitting out loud, I want you to help us write a pamphlet about Fandom that would pass muster at the most boring college in a mundane world with a completely unimaginative admission reviewer. I want you to take the name of one of your other classes and make it sound, you know, not insane, and instead make it sound like a class any jerk in Indiana, the world's most cursed state, would also take." Josh shrugged. "Bonus points if you can make Pinkie Pie seem normal. And....go."
