The projector screen was up once again at the front of the classroom.

"Good morning, class," Bond said. "Now given that some of you are likely still recovering from the weekend, we're going to have a somewhat laid-back class today, where rather than listening to me go on about how the various waves of immigration combined with a ready availability of fresh produce and a large population centres being mostly based along the coastline created various kinds of modern Australian cuisines in various regions, you get to watch a show involving that food."

When students arrived in the Danger Shop today, they'd see an obstacle course, modeled after rooftops and walls, about six-to-ten feet off the ground, foam mats all over the floor.

"Good afternoon," Ghanima said cheerily. "Today we're looking at remaining mobile in an unfamiliar urban environment. To this end, we are studying parkour, or l'art du déplacement."

When lost or being pursued in an unfamiliar city, sticking to the streets is the equivalent of painting a target on your back. )

"So, today, you'll be trying it out on a smaller scale," she said, going over some of the basic moments with the students. "For those of you that manage this course, I'll switch the Danger Shop over to an actual urban environment, and you can feel free to take a run at a slightly more realistic scenario."

Once again, class was in the Danger Shop. This was because Thor needed a lot of snow for today's class, and the weather outside wasn't exactly adequate.

When the students arrived, they'd see a snow-filled landscape, barren except for a small grove of trees. They were looking at the setting of Adrift in the Hinterlands.

"Many times, when we think of a heroic tale, we think of a struggle and triumph against a wicked villain, but not all stories follow this formula. Sometimes nature itself is the 'villian', although it is an unthinking force that cannot act with malice. Still, it provides obstacles that the hero must overcome. Severe weather is one such obstacle. If you were trapped in this area with only a few basic supplies," a saw, some matches, and some rope, for example, of which there were enough for each student in the class, "how would you build yourself a shelter? There are enough trees to construct a small structure," and although it looked like there were only enough for one such shelter, since it was the Danger Shop, the trees would replenish if cut down, so there would be enough for everyone, "or you could build a shelter of snow and ice, which is quite warm if done correctly." He handed everyone a sheet of printed instructions for creating a basic cabin or igloo, and then demonstrated how to get started with both shelters. "Feel free to work by yourself or in groups to construct your shelters," he added, before letting them get to it.

When the class met up in the Danger Shop this time, they'd find themselves in a forest in the middle of winter. To their left: a table full of winter jackets, scarves, rifles and socks. To their right: Atton.

"I had a friend over last weekend," he said. "She made a good point. See, I keep teaching you all about urban survival and how to deal with super-powered idiots trying to march all over you, but that might not be the only hostile world you're going to run into. Hell, some of this stuff, you can even apply in an urban environment - there's still animals to eat, if you're that down on your luck."

He pointed at the table. "Suit up," he called. "It's gonna be cold as soon as you cross that threshold over there. You've got 45 minutes until the sun sets, and you need something to eat. Your job is going to be to find some. I'd suggest shooting something and cooking it, but hey, you can try other ways if you want to. Once you have your food, you're going to want to get somewhere warm."

Beat.

"That's it. Good luck."

Oh boy.
