If anyone needed Evan today, they would have a little bit of spelunking to do. He'd come in to the library and immediately made his way into the stacks. He was going to hunt down mis-shelved books, that was what he was going to spend his way doing. Just looking over books. Alphabetizing. Mindless busywork.

And maybe hiding. A little.

Class was in the Danger Shop today, which was done up to look like a small gym. Kitty had figured that there would be more than enough room, plus anyone who had to deal with small children could take them off to the side if there were any problems.

With her was Lexi, who looked really pretty excited about being in class. "Hey, everyone," Kitty said. "Once again the usual plan got thrown out because of Fandom, but that's okay. For anyone new in here, I'm Kitty and this is Lexi, and today we're going to work on self-expression through a dance party. Yes, you have to. Don't be shy, we're here to have fun today."

And then she hit play on the totally safe, kid-friendly pop music and you all were just going to have to deal with it.

"This is your final week before Spring Break. I won't be on the trip and I won't demand any homework," Batman promised from his position in a Danger Shop alley. "But if I hear of a situation that would have been made better with your intervention and find out that none of you did anything, I won't be happy."

"Onto today's topic, travel. If you want to fight crime, you need some way to get from Point A to Point B. If you have a travel-based power like speed or flight, that helps," Batman said. "If not, you may need a vehicle. Buses and cabs are unacceptable."

"In Gotham City, I have the Batmobile, Batcycles, and a jet designed specifically for city use called the Batwing. In a pinch, I also have a jetpack," Batman said. "But over short distances, I travel across the rooftops. And to get up there, I use this."

Batman pulled his grapple out of his utility belt and held it out. It was a black handle with a trigger. On the end of it was what looked like a special batarang. "This is my grapple. I aim, I press the trigger, and the line is launched. Ideally, I wrap the line around a sturdy pipe or catch the grapple on a parapet. Worst case, there's enough power to sink the end of the line into concrete."

Batman aimed up, fired, and caught the edge of the roof. Did you noticed the table behind Batman this whole time? If so, congratulations, you knew where to grab your grapple. "Once you've secured the roof, press the button on the side with your thumb. You'll be on the roof in seconds. Meet me on the roof where you'll practice your roof runs and swinging across large gaps."

Batman suddenly lurched up, his cape making him a black streak through the (computer-generated) night until he launched right over the edge of the roof and he spread the cape to make himself look like the silhouette of a giant freaking bat.

Just in case you ever wondered why exactly he wore a scalloped cape.

See you on the roof!
