"Technically speaking, vigilantism is illegal in most places," Batman said. "And it's very easy to anger the police who might think you're showing them up. That's why it pays to have some friends among the local authorities."

"When I started my war on crime, Gotham City had plenty of corruption in the system. I found the most decent cop I knew, showed him that all I wanted was to help, and that started a fruitful relationship. Now he's the police commissioner and he specifically calls me in on cases he thinks could use some outside help."

"I happened to be familiar with a case this man worked when he was a beat cop. When I became the Batman, I decided to follow his career and make sure he was still the man I knew. My investigation showed nothing remotely sketchy and some creativity. If anyone could see the benefit of working with someone outside the basic structure of the law who was determined not to break more rules than he needed, it was him."

"This week you're going to do this on a small scale," Batman explained. "Find people in this class you don't know that well yet. Talk to them and figure out whether or not you think you can trust them as a close ally in a world where you'll need a few. We'll review your choices next week."

It was time to play some video games in the Danger Shop once again.

"Morning everyone," Riley greeted once everyone had arrived. "Today, we're gonna be playing another classic. Pac-Man was first developed as an arcade game by Namco way back in 1980. Immediately upon its release, it became hugely popular and, even now, it's pretty iconic. When people think of video games and video game characters, Pac-Man tends to be right at the top of that list. Pac-Man succeeded by creating a new genre and appealing to both genders. Pac-Man is often credited with being a landmark in video game history, and is among the most famous arcade games of all time. It is also one of the highest-grossing video games of all time, having generated more than $2.5 billion in quarters by the 1990s."

So, Pac-Man was a pretty damn big deal.

"The game is simple. You control Pac-Man through a maze and you go around eating pac-dots or pellets. Once you eat all the pellets, you advance onto the next level. Of course, it's not that easy because while you're eating the pellets, you have to avoid Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, the ghosts who are chasing you. If you're caught, you die and you lose a life and have to start over. So, let's try to avoid those guys while we play today."

The Danger Shop came alive and the arcade was in front of the students again. Time to play Pac-Man!

"So there was some big game yesterday," Jack drawled to the class. "Super Bowl. And I was going to make you play football, but a, I don't know the rules and b, there aren't enough of you to start with. Luckily, I am crazy good at setting up video games."

She gestured to the large TV sets and controllers at the front of the class room. "We're playing Madden NFL 11. Have fun."
