"So, after Thanksgiving last week, I guess none of you want to see copious amounts of meat any time soon," Oz said by way of greeting when the class entered the Danger Shop. Which begged the question of why there were copious amounts of meat in the Danger Shop.

"Nowadays if you happen to have too much meat on hand, usually you can put it in the fridge or freezer until you're ready to cook and eat it. Unfortunately this wasn't always the case. So today you're going to be learning a couple of ways to preserve meat. Beef in this case."

"Have fun."

"We're combining some recent classes this week, but the end result won't be as exciting as you might hope," Batman said. The Danger Shop was once again a city, and there were cars once again. "One of most important parts of police work is having patience. That applies to finding the right piece of evidence, of course, and being able to maintain your cool so that you don't cross any lines."

"But it also applies to the sheer, boring act of long-term observation. A police stakeout could last hours, sometimes even days. And during that time, you not only have to keep yourself focused, you also have to keep yourself from going mad from not doing anything," Batman explained. "Fortunately, you'll generally have a partner who should be able to help matters, whether it's by talking, getting coffee, or taking watch while you get some rest."

"That's what you're doing today. Sit in one of the cars with a partner and kill time while paying careful attention for whatever might happen. And something will happen."

Zoe was tempted to put out Thanksgiving leftovers for the meeting today, but she liked the students on the council, so there were pizzas and sodas out instead.

"Well, I think Thanksgiving was a success." 'In spite of the glitter' was going unsaid. "We only have two weeks until exams and then the first semester is over." That time flew by faster every year. "Is there anything we'd like to do during exams? Or over the break? It's not exactly a trying time, I know, but it's an opportunity for... something."

After Clint ushered everyone through the portal, the students would find themselves in a busy, metropolitan area. "Hey guys, welcome to Dubai," he said, looking even more excited than usual. "Dubai is a fairly independent city-state in the United Arab Emirates, and while a lot of people think of the Middle East as a dangerous place, Dubai is actually pretty modern and progressive thanks to super rich business folks who came in, built the place up over time, and made it an international center of commerce. After that came a ton of tourism, and now Dubai is one of the richest city-states in the world. In fact, Dubai is such a wealthy place that they were able to build that--the Burj Khalifa, the tallest man-made structure in the world. How tall is it? Well, we're going to find out."

"You're all back," the Ice King said, looking sour. Teaching had not grown on him, sadly. "Great."

Also, those hand turkeys didn't work at all on the ladies. Clearly it was all of your faults. Especially the secret princesses.

"You have to keep a princess happy or else they run away and you get beat up," he continued, carefully applying a photograph to the front board. "And with Christmas coming, that means presents. Now come up with some ideas. And don't make them expensive!"

It might have helped if he'd given some idea of the princess in question's personality or hobbies, but no. That was not about to happen.

Sorry, class.

Space!, Friday

Was Kaidan looking more uncomfortable than usual today? Yes, yes he was.

"Hey," he told the class. "I've been informed that I should probably cover--" He coughed. "...Interspecies relations with you. In case that, uh. Comes up."

Shuffle.

"There are risks involved with, uh, associating intimately with someone of another sentient species," he said. "For example, if you're a levo-amino lifeform and you have relations with a dextro-amino person, both of you are at risk of having allergic reactions to your, uh." Damn it. "...Fluids."

Nghghghgh. He was just... Going to try and get through this.

"Some species secrete substances that might serve as hallucinogenics," he continued on doggedly. "They might have oddly shaped genitals or specific mating rituals that need to be observed. But... most of the time, at least... you can bet there won't be a risk of pregnancy." A pause. "Unless you're sleeping with an asari. They can, ah. Get along. With anybody. Though the offspring is always asari."

He rubbed the back of his neck.

"Basically, make sure to be informed about the details of the reproductive habits of your heterospecies relationship," he said, rubbing harder at the back of his neck. "And no, pornography is not a good substitute. Talk to a doctor. Or a professor. A professional." Probably not a Systems Alliance marine.

He fell silent for a long moment.

"Okay," he said. "I'm going to make you all play an informative game about interspecies relationships. Team up, two to a screen, let's go."

And stop talking about this. Right now.
