Today Bond had set up pairs of chairs facing each other, and directed students to sit in them as they arrived.

"More important than being able to have a poker face, is being able to keep a poker face regardless of stimulus," he explained once they were all seated. "Now you've had taste of that with our dancing exercise a few weeks back, but even then you had the means to distract yourself or your partner when you were close to breaking. This week you won't have even that, as I would like you to sit, quietly, keeping eye contact with the person across from you, until one of breaks in some fashion. Then you can either try again, or talk with your partner about how and why it worked or didn't work."

Today's Live Entertainment class had been told to meet at Fast Eddie's, where Jono (thankful to be back in proper clothing after yesterday's Portalocity kerfuffle) handed each student a roll of quarters as they walked through the front door.

"Right, then. Rather than doing battle with Portalocity twice this week, especially after last week's… unique field trip, and since they went and stole my bloody trousers yesterday, I thought we might take in some of the entertainment that the island itself has to offer. And then I realized that aside from my own bloody theatre and the cinema, there aren't exactly many options."

Really, he couldn't win, could he?

"But there is the arcade. A collection of games to be played, along with all of the bright flashing lights and noise that comes with it. I'm calling it close enough, because you have to get off your behinds and go outside in order to experience it. It's got a different feel than sitting on your arse at home with a game console, doesn't it? So, take your quarters and have fun for the rest of the period, or however long it takes for you to run out, or whatever makes you happy. I'll be over there at the pinball games, but there are racing games and shooting games and there are pool tables somewhere, and lord only knows what else. Go on, then. Set some high scores or something."

And that was that.

"So...this Tea Party Republican House member admitted to using cocaine yesterday after being arrested by the feds for possession and is now taking a 'leave of absence' while, presumably, the GOP goes out to find walls to beat their heads into. Now various people fall into drug addiction, and I'm not slagging on that," Josh said, "but what makes this one art is his vote earlier in the year to require that people applying for food stamps pass a drug test." He smiled and took a sip of coffee. "I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning."

He leaned back against his desk. "This all pales in comparison to the current mayor of Toronto, who admitted to using crack, but, he says, only because he was really, really drunk at the time. Neither of these guys are resigning, and that's where my question comes in. It's illegal to use cocaine and these guys are in government, sworn to uphold the law. Shouldn't they be in jail like, you know, normal people who get caught doing drugs?"
