When the students arrived at the classroom, they'd find the door closed with a sheet of paper taped to it.

Class is cancelled today. My apologies. See you all next week!

There was a disturbing amount of pillows and blankets in the classroom today. Which could be for a number of reasons, really. Maybe there was a sleepover planned. Maybe they wanted to have story time! Maybe Bed, Bath & Beyond had exploded into the room.

That last one at least had the potential to explain why Pinkie was wearing a military helmet. Well, sort of.

It was probably best not to wonder too hard about the riding crop.

Derek was trying his best to ignore it for certain. You all should follow suit and go for some nice ol' repression.

"The best defense," Pinkie said by way of introduction when it was time for class to start, "is a good offense! The next best defense is a really really really good base of operations! Which is why today you'll be making the best base out of pillows you possibly can!"

What were they trying to defend against? It was anyone's guess.

This all made perfect sense. Just go with it.

"...right," Derek added, side-eyeing Pinkie Pie something fierce. "As a group. Without knocking it over."

Who would be the leader? WHO WOULD STEP UP?

"And when you're done, we'll test it out with my party cannon!" Pinkie said.

Yep. This would end well.

Library, Wednesday

Sholeh really hated the joke 'Working hard or hardly working?' It seemed insulting. When she was at work, of course she was working!

...That being said, some days she worked harder than others. Today for example, the library was quiet, the books were behaving, and the circulation desk was tidied and books returned within the first twenty minutes of her shift.

So today she was passing the time writing long-overdue letters to her mothers and Ulrik and working on her essay for tomorrow's class.

See? At least one of those counted as work!

The Danger Shop set-up involved desks with blocks of ice, hammers, and small containers of candy on them. And it all made perfect thematical sense, too!

"Today," Electroclash announced, "you'll be smashing blocks of ice while eating Ice Breakers, and trying to think up interesting facts about yourself you can then tell your classmates to start up a conversation." She paused. "If you can't tell what today's theme is, I'm deeming you too thick to be trusted even with simulation hammers."

It was ways of breaking ice, people.

"Well, get started."

"Hey, everybody," Jess greeted the class. "First of all, it's time for you guys to pass up your book reports on the meta for The Lord of the Flies and all its super cheerful symbolism."

She waited for everyone to pass up their papers, then hopped up on her desk to take a seat. "You'll be getting your copies of the meta for A Tale of Two Cities on your way out, but first I want to talk a little about the last book and see what you guys thought."
