Today Bond had his class meet him down at the docks, where he was waiting at the end of the furthest out jetty. Once they were in the water, Bond began.

"Now today's exercise is inspired by a ceremony certain Orthodox Christian Churches hold during Epiphany called the Great Blessing of the Waters, which involves amongst other things, a cross being tossed into the waters and the young men all swimming to retrieve it, with the one who does so gaining blessings for himself and his family. Now I'm not religious, and as far as I know none of you are either, so rather rather than a cross you'll be retrieving this." Because a neon orange fibreglass stick was much less sacrilegious. "And instead of blessings, I'll pay off the winner's tab at Caritas."

That wasn't a particularly appropriate prize, but Bond was sure it'd provide enough motivation.

Pinkie's mouth and hooves were covered in a veritable rainbow of sticky, sugary goo, popsicle sticks, and, of course, glitter. There were piles of (clean) rainbow colored popsicle sticks, sparkly tiles, terra cotta pots, fabric flowers, and little toy birds on every table. Derek was nowhere in sight.

"Hi everypony!" Pinkie greeted. "My co-teacher couldn't be here today," he probably was trying to avoid getting covered in glitter stuck in dried, melted popsicle, "so you stuck with just me." She pouted. "I know it's very sad, but we'll just have to struggle through together."

She brightened right back up again. "Today, we're making tiled flower pots and popsicle stick bird houses! There's plain old popsicle sticks on your table that you can buy at a craft store, but that's no fun so I also have lots and lots of popsicles!" Pinkie flung her hooves in the air in glee, sending bits of melted popsicle flying. "And of course, we've got lots of glitter! So get munching, and get crafting!"

"Hey there, folks," Josh said as the class found themselves in a simulation that looked suspiciously like the Perk. "Today you're gonna be baristas, which is Italian for 'I'm writing a novel on my breaks.'"

Not really. Josh just thought he was hilarious.

"You're going to take coffee orders and not roll your eyes when someone comes in to order a half-caf skim milk latte with three pumps of hazelnut flavoring and two extra shots of espresso. So...good luck with that."

He handed out aprons. "And try not to kill yourself on the espresso machine. I'm pretty sure that if you push the right combination of buttons, you'll launch nukes and start World War III."

It felt really good to be back in the library.

Really, really good. Evan had missed little things like being able to turn pages when he'd been a dog. He'd missed the hi-jinx of the library books, too, though he'd never admit it in a million years. Especially not when a copy of 'Care And Feeding Of Your Transformed Mutant Husky Puppy' kept finding its way to his desk.

"Nope. Even you guys can't ruin this for me," he calmly informed the books as he went to casually re-shelve that (admittedly oddly specific) title in question.

It was good to be back.

[Open and OCD-free today. Still battling some hell-jetlag but I can probably ping intermittently.]

"So let's talk about trends," Petra said to her class today, "because I know they can be intimidating. But they don't have to be, and they're not supposed to be. Trends are supposed to be fun! And they can be. I promise. The first thing is, you don't have to follow every trend that comes along. In fact, you shouldn't. That would make you not stylish, it would just make you a sheep. The key thing is to pick out the trends that you like, and that work for you. Like, say you're...a goth," she said, with a wry glance at Kenzi. "You might not want to follow, say, a trend for florals or neons, but you could probably figure out how to incorporate lace, or high-low hemlines, or studs. Oh, one other thing, you have to be careful when deciding what trends you're going to go with, and shopping for those clothes. If you know it's just something fun you're only going to wear a few times and then never again once the trend's over, that's one thing, but if you really like a trend and want to incorporate it into your wardrobe long-term you're going to have to be more picky.

"I found this list of trends for summer, along with some pictures of what they look like so you can get a better idea, and I want you guys to go through and pick out which ones you could see yourselves wearing, versus which ones are so not you." She eyed the first one on the list warily. "I'm not sure leather for summer is for anyone, but they keep pushing it, so...yeah. Maybe you're that person!" She still sounded doubtful, though.
