Oz's class was back in a normal classroom today. "Morning, kids, and I hope you all had a good day yesterday, I had to dose some people with memory drugs because loose lips sink black ops programs." He was joking. Maybe. Let's just assume he was for everyone's peace of mind.

Got game? )

Shira was busily reshelving a full cart of books. This wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't taken her an hour and a half already with no end in sight. She was pretty sure the books were secretly sneaking back on the cart when her back was turned. She wouldn't have put it past them, anyway -- some of those books were pretty damn sneaky.

So she started moving sideways down the aisles so she could keep an eye on the cart at all times. A little strange, perhaps, but no stranger than half the books she worked with. She figured it was all right.

This week, Jono had left a note on the classroom door directing his students to the library, where he was waiting for them with a small grin on his lips. It felt good to be in here today. He'd spent most of his Sundays in this very room throughout high school, after all.

"We're in the middle of a hypothetical invasion," Jonothon informed his class once it looked like they had all arrived. "We don't know what it is or where it came from, all that we really know is that the island is covered with monsters. Some of them spend a great deal of time near the water, and they look suspiciously like turtles, except that they're always carrying a saucer of water on the top of their head. They've already tried to pull people under the water, and at one point they chased a person halfway across the park in order to steal their picnic basket just so they could pick the fillings out of the cucumber sandwiches that were inside."

He smirked a little.

"Some of the other monsters are something that look almost as much man they do bird, with faces that are human except for those ridiculously long noses they've got. They spend most of their time guarding the outskirts of the preserve, and aren't afraid to use the feather fans they carry to blow trespassers away with gusts of wind... or to grow or shrink a person's nose if they're feeling more playful than antagonistic." He gave a small wave of his hand out toward the stacks. "Your mission today is to figure out what these creatures are, and, if possible, how th'hell to get them to leave. Or, at least, to get them to stop attacking the locals. And you have one class period and all th'resources in the library outside of Special Collections in order to do it. We'll take the last ten minutes to clean up any books you've left around. Let's figure out how to save our island, hm?"

There were sandwiches and salads out again today for any hungry Student Council members, along with a number of multi-colored boxes of cookies. Darn those Girl Scouts with their adorable faces and irresistible wares.

"Good afternoon," Zoe said, once everyone had settled down. "Prom time is nearly upon us, so we need to make sure everything is organized for that. Does anyone have any theme ideas? Perhaps something not terribly strange?" She could hold out hope for as long as it would take, really.

This week's class was in a regular classroom and hey, Clint was actually there as a healthy human. "Hey guys. Did you miss me?" he said with a smirk. "You don't have to tell me out loud, I know in your hearts the answer is yes. I wanted to have a kind of discussion today. Let's say, hypothetically speaking, you lived in a world where the general assumption was that you're alone in the universe and then one day, without warning, the sky opened up over a major city and aliens showed up. And not nice aliens either, but mean ones with weird faces who're bent on destroying everything in their path. Aside from the obvious job of taking down said aliens, what are some of the skills that might be needed to keep people safe? Or, you know, put the world back together after the party's over?" For a unique definition of the word "party" of course.

There was a table at the front of the classroom today for everyone to deposit their flour-babies on as they arrived.

There was also only one-half of the usual teaching team.

"So!" Thor boomed. "I hope you all had a very educational week. Did having a 'child' to worry about change anything in your usual schedule? Did you find yourself having to negotiate with your partner at all? Please, feel free to share any experiences you might have totes handwavily had." He really hoped no one had made their child into cookies.
