Library, Thursday

Evan really wasn't certain what to make of the library, today. He'd walked in, and, thinking that maybe he was going to actually get work done, had been met with a stack of cookbooks on the desk to be shelved. And so, naturally, he'd shelved them! Only to come back to his desk to find that there were more, all opened to pages about homemade candies. He did the requisite glance around to be certain there wasn't somebody looking for photocopies or something, and then looked down at the book, eyebrow raised, and set about shelving them all over again.

And again.

And again.

By around noon, he had given up and was looking through the recipes. There was one for salt water taffy that had caught his interest, mostly because it was the one candy in the book that he had a distinct, stretchy-limbed advantage with while making it.

"There's a phrase on this planet that, rough summarized, says that you shouldn't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes," Anakin said. "Now this isn't an invitation to steal your classmates' shoes--" he'd been here long enough to guard against someone taking the assignment far too literally "--it's an attempt to foster understanding. I'll pair you up and over the next week, you must spend a day following the other around, learning about the other classes they take, jobs they might have, hobbies they fill their time with, and so on. We have students from many different universes and times here--what you might take for granted as an obvious thing to do might be something they've never thought of trying."

He glanced down at his list. "And before you ask, the other teachers know about this assignment, so don't worry about bringing your new shadow to class with you. All right, the pairings are : Anna Korlov and Jack Frost, Loki Laufeyson and Madeline Berry, Paddra Nsu-Yeul and Po of Lienid, and Surreal SaDiablo and Victor Mancha. Try not to kill each other."

As the students entered the classroom this week, they would find much the same arrangement as last week: desks, blackboard, well-built blond teachers. If one of their teachers looked a little embarrassed, well, he covered that with professionalism before class officially started.

“Good morning, everyone,” Steve said to the students. “This week’s topic is very important, and so I’d like for you all to give it your full attention.”

Thor just looked a little bemused, if anything. The procedure at the center of today’s discussion was handled rather differently in Asgard, but he’d been around... certain Midgardians long enough to know it was something very important to their people.

Today we're discussing the importance of protective devices! )

[ooc: heads-up that the post isn't particularly NSWF (mmm, double negatives) but DOES contain discussion on proper condom application, in case that's a concern for those who might be reading this in public/at work/out loud as a performance art piece.]
