"Today we're taking a small test on what we've been talking about so far," Kaidan said. He had a stack of papers sitting on his desk. Oooh, ominous. "Next week, we start our module on xenobiology and xenosociology. That weekend, I will also be hosting our field trip to the Citadel. If you'd like to spend some time with people not of your species, and get a look at what those species have built, here's your chance."

"It's all expenses paid, so you don't have to worry about anything. It'll be a fun opportunity."

He cleared his throat.

"But now for the test," he said. "You have the entire period to finish it. If you're done early, you can leave the class."

He nodded at Topher. "Your time starts as soon as the test hits your desk."

Things were surprisingly quiet in the library this morning, but Billy wasn't going to complain. Not having to deal with fighting books and strange objects meant he had more time to think about Homecoming and how it was his first real dance to go to with Topher and how there'd be slow songs and...

...Okay, maybe a distraction or two would have been nice after all, and it wasn't long before Billy was cleaning all the things on the front desk to keep himself occupied.

"I'm sure most of you are keen on leaving this class early," Magneto announced as he walked into the danger shop precisely as the bell rang. "Rest assured your homecoming activities can wait. Fun and frivolity has it's place. So does knowledge."

"Before the fall break we watch a movie," he continued as he began his regular circuit around the room. "About a man and his desire for a free country for his people. You may ask: what made that man different from others? For that I can give you a simple answer: conviction. As I mentioned before, just because you may take the option of non-violence does not mean it's going to be easy."

He gave his students a sinister grin and snapped his fingers. The danger shop swift changed from blank walls to what appeared to be a modern day protest. The only switch to this that there were counter protesters on the other side.

"Today, we're going to test your conviction," Magneto said with a malevolent look of glee. "And just see how well you can do. If you wish to bow out... you may. However that may tell me more about you than any other class you have taken with me so far."

He pointed at the protest going on and gestured for the class to join in. "Begin."

"I can't say 'Nothing lasts forever,'" Jonothon began, once he stepped into the classroom today, slightly late and looking a little rumpled. He wasn't going to fall into the habit of coming to class directly from training sessions in New York, but he'd missed far too many between break and the like, and he wasn't about to let Jubilee grumble at him. "Because there are things that will last forever. I've met them. I've looked into their eyes before they walked away and understood in that moment that they were Endless."

And to Jonothon's credit, he said that with squared shoulders and his chin up, and only the faintest waver in his voice.

Perhaps those things that set you apart will last forever too. )

Apathy club. It was a thing that existed.

Because it did not need much besides Jeremy sitting in a classroom to exist. And Jeremy was, indeed, in a classroom. Looking up things on the internet on his phone, as you do.

It was totally apathetic, really.
