Dave had some extra copies of this week's kid-themed paper ready to occupy and maybe frustrate small children that might be dragged along to the newspaper meeting today. For their parents, he made sure there was not only coffee and pastries, but also aspirin.

And then he went back to not having to care for anything but the paper and his reporters in the context of said paper. It was a relief.

There were not any children accompanying William to the library today. He was unsure of whether he should be glad or disappointed on that front, to be honest.

So it was very much a routine day in the Fandom High library. Which... wasn't really all that routine, as a rule.

The girl standing before the assembled group did not precisely appear prepared to talk. In fact, she looked a shade terrified of public speaking. Tyrion was certain she hadn't gotten that from him.

At her father's insistent nod, Joanna finally began to speak.

"Hello," she said. "I'm Joanna, Lord Tyrion's daughter. He's having me run class today because ..." She didn't really understand the because, and she trailed off there to look to her father.

"Because public speaking is an essential life skill," Tyrion supplied. "No one will take you seriously if the cat steals your tongue when you're nervous." That last bit was aimed at all of them, not just his daughter.

"Right," Joanna said. "That. So you're all, guests included, supposed to stand up for three minutes and say something about your child or your parent. If you have neither, spend your three minutes talking about..."

She looked to Tyrion again, and he shrugged. "How lucky you feel?" he tried. "If you feel lucky at all. Anyhow, it is a class presentation day, as the lady said. I'm sure you're all ingenuous enough to come up with something to say." He glanced back to Joanna to finish. "Do you want to wrap this up?"

Joanna nodded. "Take a few minutes to prepare, then begin with" -- she stabbed a finger into the group -- "you."

"So it's that time of year again, I take it," Max said with an unsympathetic (some might even call it wickedly amused) grin as the students settled into a Danger Shop simulation of a standard high school gymnasium. "Which actually gives us a great excuse opportunity to focus our thinking around self-defense on how to deal with needing to defend someone else as well as yourself, especially when they're in no position to defend themselves."

"While I understand that the usual inrush of tiny, adorable mess-makers was somewhat offset this year by some older arrivals, let's just focus on the former."

Which explained those bundles that looked suspiciously like the droid babies that got handed out in Ethics, complete with slings for carrying them. "I've handwavily divide you into two groups. Everyone's going to get a sling," and it's attendant droid baby, "then one group will take on the role of the aggressors, while the other will be defending. Defenders need to hold out for five minutes, keeping both themselves and their charges safe from the aggressors. Now, we don't want anyone getting hurt, so safe for you means staying on your feet. Safe for your charges means them not crying." And given how sensitive the droid babies were, that could pretty much be caused by being touched.

"After five minutes, we'll switch sides." And then they'd just switch back and forth for the whole class. "You've got five minutes to get ready. And discuss strategy if you want."

Instead some distant locale, Bond had the Danger Shop set up with low tables laid out with various colours of icing, edible glitter, sanding sugars, all kinds of sprinkles, as well as piping bags and bottles, and palette knives. There were also separate, higher tables with trays of undecorated cupcakes, variously shaped sugar cookies and gingerbread men.

"Good morning, class," Bond greeted his students, and an kids they'd brought with them. "Given our unexpected guests over the weekend, I decided it might be prudent to change the focus of today's class, so I stopped by J,GoBs for some supplies, please feel free to take and use as many as you wish."
