Upon entering the Danger Shop today, the class found themselves in a dank, cavernous room with high stone walls that seemingly went forward... in a maze.

"Today we're working with someone many of you may be familiar with," Ghanima announced as the class assembled. "Especially if you have taken this particular class before."

"If, at any point, today's discussion becomes too much, please feel free to excuse yourselves."

"The inspiration for Bram Stoker's famous vampire, Count Dracula, Vlad the Impaler may not have actually drunk blood, but he was certainly one of the most bloodthirsty rulers to have ever stalked through the annals of history."

WARNING: Here there be Dracul. )

[OOC:  OCD UP.  NOTE: Today's class is behind the cut-tag for impalement, violence, and lots of people dying. NOT FLUFFY.]

Today in the library, Dorothy had jumped topics completely. She'd gotten a book about modern cellphones and was trying to read it to understand what Jack had shown her in class the other day.

It wasn't so helpful when she didn't actually have one of the machines to fiddle with as she read.

Dorothy remained behind the desk in the library, confusedly cross-referencing passages with a modern dictionary hoping to gain more understanding. It really was not working.

The library was open.

The Danger Shop was set up to look like a classroom today, and on the blackboard, the students would see a quote written on the blackboard:

Weather is a great metaphor for life - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella. ~Terri Guillemets

"Terri got it in one," Cindy said from her perch on her desk as soon as the bell rang. "Weather, in novels anyway, are almost always a metaphor for something. "

Rain, rain, go away. )

Cindy stood up and opened the classroom door. Outside was a lovely summer day, golden and warm. She closed it, reopened it, and suddenly there was a dense fog, the kind where you could only see a few feet ahead of you. "But rain is only one of the types of weather that we'll read about in novels. Together, we can talk about some of the others. Meet me in the Perk--" What, she loved coffee, okay? "--and we'll talk about the others."

And then Cindy vanished from the room.
