The class was meeting back in the classroom again this week, and Dean was leaning back against his desk, requisite coffee in hand, and more coffee off to the side in case the students wanted any.

It was kind of expected of him, now. And Dean would hate to disappoint.

Class was in the Danger Shop again, although the shop looked suspiciously like the park once again. Furthermore, there were unmanned rickshaws all over the place.

"General George S. Patton once said, 'Don't tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results,'" Scott recited.

Seemingly leaving that as a non-sequitur for now, he moved on. "So far in this class, you've discussed leadership qualities, looked at your personal philosophy, and tried to find either a leader or a consensus in a group to achieve construction and prevent destruction last week. But one thing I've held off on so far is forcing you into leadership," Scott said. "That changes today."

"You'll be paired up and you'll have to make two trips around the park in a rickshaw. During the first lap, one of you will be pulling the rickshaw while the other is in the seat. For the second lap, you'll switch places. Don't worry, the rickshaws are light enough that you should be able to pull them without much difficulty. And even if something goes wrong, like you crash into a pedestrian or a dog, the Shop will keep you from getting hurt. But not from being scared or embarrassed."

"And of course there's a catch."

Scott reached into one of the rickshaws and pulled out a blindfold. "This is for the person pulling the rickshaw. You'll be doing that job completely blind. The only way you'll know when to turn, how fast to go, when to stop, or what you're doing at all is by listening to your partner as they direct you. Leadership has been thrust upon them. They're responsible for both your safety and their own. But you're also being timed, so you're going to have to move faster than a crawl." Did you really want to find out what Scott had planned for teams who went too slow? Did you?

"As Patton said, 'tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results,'" Scott repeated. "Good luck, everyone. Try to surprise us."

"Yes, good morning, Mr. Giles," Wesley said, using his shoulder to hold the phone to his ear. "I was hoping you might look over a spell for me."

A beat.

"Sleeping?" he repeated. "At --" he checked his watch, "--eleven in the morning?" Good god, that place was going downhill. "Well. Regardless. It's Norse in origin -- not dark so far as I can tell, though I suppose there's always -- Mr. Giles?" Wesley pulled the phone from his ear to squint at the 'call ended' message blinking on the screen. "Well, that was just unnecessary."

As soon as the students entered the Danger Shop, the lights dimmed around them. Annja and Arya appeared out of the darkness.

"Last week you watched what was considered to be a documentary on vampires," Arya said as Annja tried not to snicker. "The reason that we wanted you to see that was so that you would get a good idea about how vampires have impacted the subconscious of people down through the years."

Annja cleared her throat. "Of course, unlike most people in that ... movie ... a great many of us have either had run-ins with actual vampires, people that believe they are vampires, people that have been involved with vampires..."

"...Or people that have been bitten by Gremlins." Arya added.

It was obvious from the expressions of both teachers that they had some very strong opinions about all of those. They weren't even going to talk about a certain universe run by evil vampires.

"Therefore, unlike most people, we all know that vampires do actually exist," Annja finished. "Some are horrible monsters, some are club owners and some just want to be left the hell alone. Like with humans, there is no good or evil as a way to categorize vampires and we're glad of that."

George was here. At apathy club. Because it was Friday and this had sort of turned into a thing. And shut up, she kind of enjoyed it. This was her anti-social socialization for the week. It counted. If you were George.

She wasn't sure if there were going to be, like, new people showing up -- because why would anybody sign up for this? She still had no idea why they had in the first place. But she was going to wait until people showed up, and then ...

And then go back to playing games on her iPhone. Because she had one, now. And she was still stuck on a really stupid level of a really stupid game that she didn't like, shut up, but why the fuck didn't she get to pick her own Peg Master because that owl was full of shit. He'd get all yin-yang eyes and say "MAXIMUM ZEN ACHIEVED" and blam, her ball would hit like three blue pegs and miss the bucket entirely, hey, thanks, you worthless piece of shit owl.

Eventually, she tossed the phone down in disgust. "So you're here or whatever. Who gives a fuck."

Welcome back, everybody!
