bigdamnprincipal: (i am glancing up)

The forcefield around the school and dorms might have been holding for now, but Zoe knew it would only be a matter of time before all the protection on the island was gone. So, when Belle had come and told her about what she'd seen happen to the dark cloud on her Special Collections trip, she was desperate enough to consider the idea of making one of her least favorite places their last stand. As she and Belle headed for the PA system, Zoe considered the possibility that she really was going crazy.

"It's all I can think to do," Belle offered quietly, even as she peered at the PA system. "It couldn't be touched in there. We were safe, even if it was crazy and hard to predict. Or, at least, safer than out here."

"If you think the students will be safe there, then this is what we have to do." Zoe hadn't gone far enough around the bend for her priorities to be out of whack, at least. She switched the system on and grabbed the microphone. "Good morning, everyone. This is Principal Winchester, with a special announcement from myself and our librarian," she said, offering the mic to Belle.

"Hello, everyone," Belle said, trying not to let her fear creep into her voice. "I know you all must be very scared and worried about our current situation, but we've found a temporary solution, I think. Everyone needs to please move to Special Collections in the library as soon as possible. It seems to be the only safe place on the island -- the cloud can't live in there. Now, it might be best to bring whatever you'd take to an emergency, because Special Collections isn't exactly safe in its own right, but it is the safest place on the island right now. I promise you." She glanced uncertainly to Zoe, offering the mic back.

Zoe gave Belle a reassuring smile, hoping to ease some of her own apprehension as well. "I know that some of you have been into Special Collections before and have had...interesting experiences. Our hope is that if we all stick together, we can stay safe until we figure out how to reverse all of this." That sounded hopeful, right? "Head for the library as soon as you can, and we'll be waiting for you there."

Any of Oz's class who'd actually turned up at his class room this morning (Why? Why would you?) would have found it empty. No directions to the Danger Shop, no message on the white board telling them to go the library or back to the dorms.

Nada.

It seemed like even there were some things even Oz couldn't plan around, like an unexpected blip in the force-field on his way to the school that morning.

It was as if the Nothing had heard Principal Winchester's and Belle's announcement that morning. It smashed harder into the forcefield, which flickered but held its ground. Then it smashed into it again, and this time the flicker gave an inch of ground.

Soon, the forcefield was flickering constantly, sometimes budging, sometimes not, but one thing was clear: the Nothing was closing in, and whether it be five, ten, or fifteen minutes, campus was not going to hold.

It was time to move.
