Pinkie had handwavily let the students know that today, they were to meet her out on the preserve. When they reached the appointed spot, they'd find her standing proud beneath a rustic, but cheerful banner decorated in bright fall leaves stretching across the head of a winding path into the trees, beneath which was painted a straight white line. Pinkie grinned proudly at the students as they gathered.

"Welcome to an annual Ponyville tradition, the Running of the Leaves! Every year, ponies from all over Ponyville gather together to race through the woods for honor and glory and delicious fall apple treats! Now, it looks like the trees have gotten a head start on us and shed a bunch of their leaves already, but there's still plenty more to bring down with your running feet, plus loads of racing fun!"

Because shod people feet were totally as capable of rattling the leaves off the trees as those of a mass of magical ponies. Just hope Pinkie doesn't decide to make you keep running until all the leaves have fallen.

"There are signs along the path to let you know which way to go!" Pinkie giggled here, which . . . didn't bode super well. "So everyone get warmed up and ready to raaaaaaaace!"

Today's Reserves had been handwavily told to meet in a classroom, where they would find an array of medical supplies set up on a table at the front of the room. Even better, because an argument had been made for fake medical supplies requiring a sanitary environment, there were no cookies. Rejoice!

"Hello," Wesley greeted everyone once they'd arrived. "Today we're like to work on first-aid. Depending on your individual experience, it may be something that you can perform by hand or by magic, or perhaps not at all, and we feel that everyone should be equipped with some basic medical skills in the event of an invasion."

Dolf nodded, looking serious. "Of course, treating the big wounds is going to be hard," he said, "But doing a little bandaging up front can save a lot. If you don't have magic-- remember not to move someone who's hurt unless you have to. Put them in a stable position if they broke anything - we'll show you how. As well as the bandaging part." Even if he hadn't done so much of this back in the 13th century, he'd been to enough first aid lessons in the reserves by now to know how it works. "If you've done this before, it's also always good to have a reminder."

"Even if you can do these sorts of things by magic, we'd like it if you could practice manually at least once or twice," Wesley encouraged. "And then feel free to discuss among yourselves the range of your abilities and what sorts of things you can do magically. It's always a good idea to know who can do what in the event of a crisis."

He began handing out supplies to everyone. "Otherwise, we'll do a few quick demonstrations, and afterwards you can feel free to practice on one another," he said. "And you're welcome to come find myself or Dolf if you have any questions."

Dolf picked up a long roll of bandage himself. "We're going to start with bandaging a wound," he said, and began the demonstration.

Today, the Danger Shop was transformed to look like the inside of a prototypical haunted house. There weren't desks, but students could take a seat on dusty chairs and a moth-eaten chaise lounge in the parlor, where Belle was sitting. In the corner, a large spider web hung, but there was no sign of the spider itself."

"Since next week is Halloween, I thought it might be the perfect time to talk about horror," Belle greeted them, swathed in a dark blue cloak for...no real reason other than sheer effect. "Horror has been at play since man was old enough to tell stories at all. We talk about what scares us in the hopes of feeling reassured that it was all in our heads, or just a dream. We talk about the things that frighten us because we don't understand them, like the dead. Scary noises in the night become ghosts, and we live in fear of things that exist just in our minds...or do they? Vampires, reanimated mummies and werewolves don't exist where I'm from, nor do killer clowns. But every place in the world has their own things that go bump in the night." Sometimes they were Belle's boyfriend, actually, in an earlier stage.

She gestured around. "The haunted house, where it is always both dark and stormy. Take a look around. See if the place gives you the shivers. Meet back here in a few minutes, and we'll talk about what scares you, and why."
