How To Avoid Misadventure, Monday, Period 4
Monday, July 25th, 2011 06:13 pmWhen students entered the Danger Shop, they would find their teachers... already in a bit of a conversation.
"That," Alistair said, gesturing at the simulated... illusionary... thing standing frozen next to him, "Is not a proper darkspawn."
"Is there such a thing as an improper darkspawn?" Morrigan asked, poking at it with the tip of her staff. "'Tis ugly, as they are. Perhaps 'tis but a deformed 'spawn. Or its mother dropped it as a childling."
"Fine, I'll give you ugly," Alistair said. He was fighting the urge to pull the creature's face into funny shapes while it was standing there like that. "But it's not exactly a hurlock, is it? It doesn't even look like it'd make for a very good genlock, I mean, look at the teeth..." He paused. "...But right, darkspawn are darkspawn."
Really weird darkspawn.
"And darkspawn, children, are not friendly," Morrigan said, turning to regard their students. "Those who are on a quest often find themselves chased or doing the chasing, by forces friendly or hostile."
"So today we'll really be putting your packing skills to the test," Alistair said, his face smoothing out until serious earnestly remained. "Take the bags you packed last week, and go from here," he pointed at the ground, "to there," 'there' being 'down the hill, across the field and through the bushes to that fortress over there', "While several of these lovely gentlemen are chasing you."
He patted the frozen sort-of-darkspawn on the shoulder.
"Now shoo," Morrigan said encouragingly as she waved a hand to start the simulation. "Unless you want to become their lunch."
