When the students entered the Danger shop today they would find themselves standing outside a gas station. For those who took the class before they might be a bit surprised to see that there were no zombies standing around looking for a snack.

Columbus gave everyone a small smile and a wave as they entered. "Hey. For those of you returning, welcome back. For those of you who are new to this class, we are here to learn how to survive a zombie apocalypse."

And then there was more talking... )

On the surface, Pinkie Pie's classroom looked surprisingly normal. The desks were arranged in a pleasing semi-circle, in which one could see any seat from any other seat in the room, with plenty of open space in between them for a grown pony to wander through. The desk at the front was covered with a sheet, hiding something somewhat lumpy and mysterious, but the sideboard counter had a coffee pot and a hot cocoa pot, and a nice array of apple turnovers and jelly donuts (with apple jelly) for the students to choose from.

A rope hung to one side of the chalkboard. Pinkie would get to that. First, she waited for the stream of students to subside and settle into seats, then strode to the middle of the semicircle and tossed her mane.

And then she did her introduction and lecture in entirely one breath. )

Gabrielle's head was still full of thoughts about her recent trip home, and that lent the occasional distant cast to her expression. It would have been tempting to go into the stacks and find out what Fandom's library had to tell her about Crassus's life and deeds, but considering the role she'd played in his fate just a week ago . . .

She'd pass on the temptation. Maybe later.

For now, she'd stick to her usual duties, shelve what needed to be shelved, and not stop to pick up any books on ancient Roman history along the way.

Maybe exploring London later could distract her from it a bit . . .

When students filed into the Danger Shop today, they probably wouldn’t be expecting the layout that greeted them. Just a few steps in, after all, there was a shelf stocked quite neatly with teddy bears of all shapes and sizes. A little farther in, a display stand showcasing brightly-colored modelling clay, not far at all from the bin of bouncy balls, just a stone’s throw from the pogo sticks.

Every toy store needed pogo sticks.

Beyond the pogo sticks, finally, were their teachers, Reno with his arms crossed over his chest and a smirk on his lips, and Cindy leaning against a pyramid made from wooden building blocks.

So at least you knew you weren't in the wrong room. )

The classroom (for anyone who’d been in the class the first session) was set up in typical Home Ec style by way of the Food Network, with cooking stations for the students and a counter up front. Though the Food Network wasn’t likely to hire the two guys up front as hosts any time soon, not when one of them looked like he should be on ESPN instead and the other sported a metal half-mask strapped to his face.

"Hey, everyone," Anders said as the students arrived, "and welcome back to those of you taking this class again. To recap for anyone who wasn’t, this class is all about the dos and don’ts of one of the best foods the gods -- or whoever -- ever invented. Cupcakes. Because there are wrong things to do with cupcakes, as far as we’re concerned."

Film at eleven -- or more behind the cut. )
