Okay, so Jono was a little late getting himself into the library today for his shift, what with having to travel back from Vail and all, but he showed up as soon as possible, considering.

So soon, in fact, that he still had his bag of laundry and his guitar with him, both of which were sitting behind the desk while he set to work, re-shelving books and silently, very silently, chuckling to himself.

Once again, it looked as though he'd gotten off easy today, didn't it?

As if her break -- lasting about five weeks to Fandom's one, if she'd calculated it right --hadn't been insane enough, Gabrielle had woken up a boy again just before heading out to catch her portal yesterday morning to Xena's endless amusement. (And possibly awkwardness, but Gabrielle hadn't noticed that part.)

She was taking it fairly well in stride, though, her usual burlap sack skirt and bilious green sports bra top forsaken for the time being in favor of leather breeches and a tunic; sure, her tuneless humming might be pitched lower than normal, but still audible if you happened to walk by closely enough.

Really, after the break she'd had? Not only had she had to deal with the Furies driving Xena mad for supposedly not avenging her father's death (thanks for that, Ares), but her nerves were still frayed from putting up with the small entourage of criminals they'd rounded up to help stop a warlord -- yes, another one -- who'd gotten his hands (thanks again, Ares) on indestructible metal from Hephaestus's forge. On top of all that, her brain was still breaking from the insanely complicated chakram throw that had saved an old man from getting run over by a wagon, broken enough swords to stop a dozen squabbles between members of two feuding families, and broken a vial of poison before someone drank it.

Xena swore she'd had several repeated versions of the same day to work that one out, but Gabrielle only remembered it happening the once.

. . . Gabrielle, sitting at the collections desk frowning at the scroll unfurled on it, felt like this seriously impeded her ability to tell the story accurately. Maybe she'd just focus on how she and Xena had managed to make peace between the two feuding families in the end. It seemed like a nice, uplifting take on the whole thing.

See, being a boy for a couple of days after that was really not a big deal at all.
