Why in the world was Jono even coming in to do his library shift, today? The island was overrun by scaly, angry green things, he hadn't slept a wink last night, and his bandages... weren't. It was like there was a whole laundry-list of reasons why Jono really should have just stayed in bed.

But, damn it, somebody had to watch the books. And you never knew when you'd stumble across something that might help to rid the island of these things.

... Information on Gremlins won't be found in the music section of the periodicals, Jono.

As students came in today, they'd find the desks removed in favor of the piles of cushions and blankets Ghanima favored for movie day.  While this weekend wasn't as traumatizing as some events in Fandom's history, Ghanima knew some of the students had unfortunate run-ins with the creatures.

Full many a wonder is told us in stories old, / of heroes worthy of praise, of hardships dire, / of joy and feasting, of weeping and of wailing; / of the fighting of bold warriors, now ye may hear wonders told! )

"Today, since I'm sure a number of you are worn out, we are going to watch a movie version of this story.  We'll be viewing Dark Lands: The Dragon Lord, a made-for-television version that takes significant liberties with the myth, but is still entertaining.  For those of you interested in reading the original Song of the Nibelungs, I suggest you make a visit to the library, as they may have a retelling in the language of your choice."

The blackboard read:

Like sands of the hourglass, so are the days of our lives. - Socrates

Tyler, looking bruised and tired, sat at the front of the room ready to push play on a DVD player. "Movie week," he announced. "Will & Ned's Awesome Expedition. It has Socrates in it. It counts as a philosophy class on a Monday like this."

Yeah, he hadn't slept much.

"Once the movie's over, you can go. If you have ideas on how to get gremlin gunk out of new jeans, let me know after class and you get extra credit."

He pushed play and slumped into his seat again, keeping one eye on the screen and the other eye on the class.
