"Today we dress our alteregos!" Edna announced, "and before you ask, no what you are wearing right now will not do." She glanced at a few particularly horrifyingly pink examples in the class and shuddered. "Your job, when you are not being a superhero, is to blend into the background! To be completely unremarkable! To have your neighbors, if asked, reply 'I have no idea who that person is!' when asked!"

She smiled and flung her hands towards the many, many racks of clothing. Nothing plaid, darlings. She has standards, and you don't need to look like a hobo to be unremarkable. "So you will pick out ensembles for each other! Twenty-first century style, please. You want to blend in, not look like a crazy escapee from the Renaissance Festival."

Today was going to be a day full of innuendo whatever Max did, so he just dived straight in. "Today we're going to talk about sword lengths."

His eyes were narrow as he swept them across the room. First one to snicker or snort was going to get an angry Max in their face.

"A weapon's length, much like its curvature, can tell you a lot about how it will be used. But it turns out that length is even more important. While curvature creates a tendency to be used in certain ways, length is a physical thing. Longer weapons provide greater range, shorter weapons are easier to handle. If you hold the longer blade in a fight you want to keep your opponent outside of your range, moving just close enough to strike before backing away again. If your blade is shorter then you want to get inside your opponent's reach, continually pressing forward to keep them from holding that advantage."

"Simple physics means that a shorter blade moves faster, this makes it extremely good for quick maneuvers. But a longer blade requires less extension for the same strikes, and that keeps you out of harm's way. Each person's style is suited to some balance between the two, but there's always someone using a longer blade than you, and always someone using a shorter blade. Today you're going to learn how to fight in either situation."

"Each of you will pair up and select weapons. You'll spar until class is halfway over and then you'll switch weapons with your partner. Anyone who wants extra attention or pointers or can't find a suitable partner, come see me."

"Well... what are you waiting for?"

...class was pretty simple today, mostly because Rimmer was passed out on the desk. It seems, however, that he'd been about to teach something or other using a large assortment of permanent markers!

[ocd up! simple for the BDE play!]

The Danger Shop was set up to look like the racetrack again, and there was a tent for the class to gather under, which they would probably want to use since it was pouring rain. Real rain, not condoms.

"As much as we all might hope to be able to drive only in good weather, sometimes, one must drive in less pleasant conditions. Take the cars out and try to get around without slipping or sliding or crashing. It might not be as simple as you think."

Claudia had totally not been late to the library. Really.

...okay, she had, but she's blaming it on Priestly's flying squirrel.

[OOC: ...oops.]

Instead of class today, there was a note for the students.

You have a free day. Enjoy it.

And then at the bottom there was a doctorly scribble about STDs and what could be caught in the century and how someone was going to have things fall off.

...yes. Yes he did make Bones post this in the room for him.

[[Omg BDE ate my brain!]]
