sith_happened: (Anakin: flying is fun!)

When the students arrived at the flight shed, they'd immediately notice that the sim had been completely reconfigured yet again.

"This is an X-Wing starfighter," Anakin said with a smile. "Today we're going to end the course by practicing flying in combat."

He waved at a droid-shaped hole on the back of the sim. "This is where your R2 unit would sit," Anakin, smiling. "Or whatever the droid number is these days. It's your copilot of sorts who can get to mechanical problems while you're flying. For example, fixing shields that have been damaged by laser fire. Since we don't have a real R2 droid here--right now, the sim will take care of that for you. It'll also scream at you if it thinks you're going too fast."

On cue, the sim let out an electronic wail. Anakin had learned to ignore that sound early.

He pointed into the inside of the cockpit. "There are a lot more controls in the X-Wing than the shuttle or the podracer, obviously It's more like the fighter plane, but you need to regulate atmosphere, gauge fuel and weapons' levels, as well as communications, landing gear and assorted other bells and whistles."

He smiled at them. "But don't worry too much--you're not going to be tested on this." He sat in the cockpit and showed them how to make the ship speed up, slow down, turn and spin. "Obviously, this moves much faster than anything else we've flown," he said, "and the sim has been programmed with the grav you'd have in your cockpit, so if you spin yourself too fast, you will make yourself sick. And then you will be cleaning out the sim." A glance at the TA. "Feel free to use the bunny for that if you must."

Anakin clasped his hands together. "Okay. You'll each get a chance to try the sim out to learn how it works. You'll be in a program set way out in space so there's nothing for you to hit if you can't figure out how to steer right away. Once you feel more comfortable, there'll be a choice of two courses to run through--one that's strictly testing you on mobility, the other than also allows you to use the laser cannons."

He gave the class a cocky smile. "Before you came in, I set a new record on the sim for time and accuracy. See if you can come close."

When the students arrived for their last class today in the danger shop they'd probably notice the pizza and other food items waiting for them.

"So," Indy said rubbing his hands together. "I had a whole class planned for you to risk life and limb just for the sake of getting a historic relic. Then I realized you'd probably prefer pizza and a movie. So to be fair? You have the option of doing either or both. Up to you."

"So. Who wants to do what?"

"It's the last day of class, guys," Marshall said once everybody had showed up. "I'd be crazy to try to teach anything."

Yeah, like he had actually taught anything this semester.

"So I brought some drinks and snacks and we're going to have a little beach party," he said. "Feel free to eat, to play volleyball, to swim. Do whatever you want. I won't judge."

Wait...

"Okay, I might judge but I won't say anything out loud. Not unless it's something dirty and inappropriate for class."

That's better.

"It was really great having you guys as my students and thank you all so much for not drowning this semester. That means a lot to me," Marshall said. "Anyways, that's all I've got. Get partying!"

Books were arrayed along the table in the front of the class room today, and a few extra laptops had been brought in and set up for Internet access.

"Good morning," Brennan said, hands firm on her coffee mug. "Today is your last class. You were almost all entirely acceptable, and mostly mature about the topics we were discussing, so I wanted to thank you for that."

It was Brennan. That was high praise.

"Today, I'm turning the class over to all of you for a final assignment. I know there isn't much time for a proper research project, but I would like each of you to pick a topic related to sex or sexuality that we didn't cover in depth in class and make a brief presentation on it. I've brought in resources; Wikipedia is fine if proper primary sources are cited. You may work in pairs, but if you do, I'll expect the work quality be twice as good."

"If none of you have questions, we should probably begin." She clearly didn't expect too many questions.

Since it was finals, Anemone figured she had to have the library open, in case anyone had a report due that they'd been slacking on all term.

Although considering how nice it was outside, anyone who did come in was probably going to get tossed out again, with a lecture about how spending too much time inside or in front of a computer was probably rotting your brain.

The Fandom Library was open, but the library aide was probably going to beat you about the head with a gardening book.

"Okay, guys, today your only task is to take the practice test for the SATs," Veronica said. "If you want to know your scores, you can drop by my office on Thursday."

Mohinder was bouncing up and down on his heels as he waited for the workshop students to arrive. "As I hope you've learnt by now, logic and reason is not are useful but not infalliable tools in your armoury. There are times when people rely on gut feelings, trust their intuition or simply make a leap of faith."

"But if intuition really does exist, what could it be? perhaps we are all processing information, things we don't even notice," he continued, passing out handouts. "But sometimes it can see an irrational reaction, bringing up feelings about people and places completely out of the blue. Anmd currently the unconscious mind is very poorly understood."

"First impressions are a strong case of this," Mohinder was a little more thoughtful as he sat back at his desk. "There's no chance to assess the details of personality, and it can take work to contradict one that goes wrong."

"Now, whether or not you believe you use it," he finished, "We're going to test your intuition."
