Gavin may have gone overboard with the snacks and drinks today but he still felt bad (especially towards one person) about this weekend so he thought overloading on snacks might make people forget about this weekend. It worked out in his mind and all.

"Hey guys," he said, nodding. "Glad to see everyone's back to normal after this weekend. We're all probably used to the weird stuff happening but that doesn't make it any less weird. Anyway, glad to see you all back. Today, we're gonna take you back to where planes began. Mostly for this planet since we're here and the sim's got them programmed but I'll try and throw something up from other places, if I can. They may not be the fastest or the best looking but these are how things started way back when. It took trial and error to get the right design and, even now, people are still tinkering with designs to make them faster, better, and stronger. Today, we're going back and we're gonna fly the pokey aircraft just to get a feel of how far things have come."

He opened the sim's door and waited for each person to take a turn.

Sam was still thrown off from the weekend, and nearly overslept to the point of being late to open the library. Luckily, he was no stranger to a little early morning running.

Captain Hammer was not his usual swaggering self today. No, today, he almost seemed like he was in shock.

"You will, undoubtedly, have to deal with villains as a hero. And villainesses. And shapeshifters, or...something." He made a face, giving a full-body shiver. "Today, we're going to begin our unit on villains with some...discussion."

See, he had learned teacher words.

"I want you all to tell me what makes a villain in your mind, and what the ideal way of defeating them might be," he said. "And if anyone can bring me some kinda...super-industrial soap, extra credit for you."

"Muscle memory," said Mohinder, from the front of a Danger Shop created classroom emptier than usual of desk and chairs. He threw the tennis ball toward one wall, and - eyes still on the class - flicked the rebound through an open window. "Or where what practice doesn't make perfect, it does make automatic."

And the rest of class is behind the cut, the tennis ball - who knows? )

Students might have noticed that, instead of that stuffy old classroom, their History class was being held in the Danger Shop today, where there was a table with a selection of peanuts, Cracker Jack, and soft drinks for the students to help themselves to at their leisure. Beyond the table, there was a simple wooden bench, and then a field, with a decent amount of flat space that eventually gave way into rolling hills and forest area.

Captain Nathan Algren of the 7th Cavalry was standing with his arms crossed nearby, once again wearing his blue uniform. He watched the students file in without a word, an eyebrow arched upward. Tyler had faded far, far into the background this week; he knew this was Nathan's story to tell, and he wasn't sure what he could add beyond offering his presence.

And The Rest Is History! )

Miss Elizabeth Bennet had quite nearly recovered from her weekend's misadventures, though one should inquire after axes only at one's own peril.

"Today," she said, "we are going to revisit the subject that should have held last week: identity. It seems particularly topical, as many of us found our identities transformed of late, as per Fandom's whims."

Identity, for reals this time )

She smiled at everyone. "One last note, simply as an amusing exercise. If you were not yourself this past weekend, do you feel that your experiences as another person will influence your perspectives, when reading? Have they added to what works you may enjoy, or find distasteful?"
