Lucky for her class, Abigail Irene Garrett was in fact in a lovely mood for the day. She had a date set for Friday, there was a play on the island which sounded very interesting, and her patchwork terrier Mike was up on her desk, insisting on getting a scritch from under her hand.

"Today, as I told you last week, I'll be asking each of you to present a few minutes on the subject of a creature, perhaps a cryptid, from your own world. I'll start things off for all of us...

Aly had set up the main campfire with an assortment of bombs running the field from the classic bombs used in movies to less sophisticated devices

She waited for everyone to arrive then started speaking.  "The last few classes, we've talked about how to blow things up.  Which is, admittedly, a lot of fun and also what the class is about.  Today, however, we're going to talk about what happens when you don't want the bomb to go off.  Disabling explosives is a hugely dangerous task, and in general, it's something you want to call in an expert to deal with."  She grinned.  "But really if there's one thing Fandom teaches you it's that when you need an expert, one usually can't be found.  So today we - and by we, I mean you - are going to work on disarming explosive devices that won't cause quite so much agony is you get it wrong."

Gesturing to the assortment of bombs,  she started discussing bomb disposal techniques including the use of a pigstick because I love this word and the ever-popular cutting of the correctly coloured wires.

"Now the trick here is that these devices aren't bombs.  But if they are disengaged incorrectly, they will explode."  She grinned.  "I hope you wore clothes that can get paint on them.  If not -" she pointed to a box "-there are some lovely and very fashionable smocks to put on."

"If you have any questions, feel free to ask.  Otherwise, pair up and have fun."

[OOC:  More information on how this will work is in the OCD threads which I am puttng up now are up.]

Today Mohinder was sitting at the front of the classroom, and - glass in his hand matching those set out on the desks - taking a drink as he waited for the students to arrive.

"Fingerprinting," Mohinder said, holding up a hand. "as an investigative technique is only a century old; the first bureau opening in Kolkata in 1897. No print is like any other; there's variation even in two impressions left by the same digit when looking to match them." He went on to talk about common traits - lines, arches, loops and whorls.

"Fingerprints are more easily found on smooth surfaces - plastic, metal, paper - and can last for years if not accidentally destroyed," said Mohinder, picking up brush and powder. He lightly dusted his glass and held it up, the fixed powder glinting in the light. "You have the tools to find and take palm, foot and fingerprints, and to compare them with each others. Try to keep it as ink-free as possible."

The class met at the campgrounds again today, where Lily was looking maybe a little hungover. Just a little. Look, beer had rained from the sky yesterday, what was she supposed to do?

"Okay, guys, we're going easy today and playing a game called Tag. If you've played before, great, but we're going to get everyone on the same page, and if you haven't, you poor things. Someone's It. That someone chases people. The first person they tag is now It, and it's their turn to chase people. And it goes on like this, but no, really, it's fun. The rules are, you can only tag one person at a time, there are no tag-backs, and you see those two trees over there?" Lily said, pointing to two trees in the not-so-far distance with a good amount of space between them. "That's your safe zone. Since you're all in high school, I don't think you should need it, but just in case. Any questions? Then have at it."

"Today we're going to work on building your confidence," Nathan said. "We're going to play a game called 'I've Done Something You Haven't Done'."

Nathan paused, glancing at the students. "You may find a variation of this game coming in handy later. When you're older. Possibly in college."

Nathan cleared his throat. "The way the game works is that you introduce yourself and state something that you've done that you think nobody else in the group has done. If somebody else has done it you have to come up with something else. We'll then go to the next person until everybody's gone. The idea is to realize that everyone has something interesting - something unique - that they can share about themselves to help break the ice at parties.

"I'll start us off. My name's Nathan Petrelli and I flew planes for the US Navy." Nathan pointed to a student at random. "Your turn."
