"Today's lesson is short and sweet, but still very important for beginners," began Mike, standing at the front of the computer lab. "Save your work and save often. You don't know if you'll be attacked by a gremlin before the assignment is finished or if the power will go out before you save those last fourteen pages of your term paper." He cringed. "I spent another three hours trying to recreate the work I lost that night. It's worth your while to find a word processor that allows auto-saving in the background. On my copy of Microsoft Word, just to to Tools, and then Options, where you'll see a tab marked 'Save.' There, you can set it to auto-save and set how often you want it to auto-save. It's also a good practice to manually save every so often by hitting Ctrl + S or the save icon in the toolbar, which usually looks like a small floppy disk. Either way, you want to find out how it works before getting to any serious work."

After answering any questions if there were any, Mike moved on. "If you've looked at the calendar, you might have noticed that we only have one more class before final exams. If there's anything that you need covered before the end of the semester, let me know now. I'll answer your questions today as best I can, and we can cover any big topics next week."

[OCD coming up! I have a work thing to deal with in the morning, but I should be back to pick up pings after 3 PM CDT.]

Aly was slightly tan and looking happy when the class arrived.  "Hope you all had a good weekend," she said, glancing around.  "Good job, all of you last week on the scenario. I'm impressed with some of your answers.  Some of you were a bit more byzantine than others, and always remember that less things can go wrong with simplicity."

"So today we're going to be very simple.  So simple that we're blowing things up  - with improvised devices.  It doesn't seem particularly sneaky at the outset, no, but trust me a well-placed explosion can solve many a problem.  Some of you have worked with these materials before in my classes - don't worry about that, have fun and help those who haven't."

"The two explosives we're going to work with today are two improvised explosives.  You don't always have access to military material and you definitely don't always need it.  One of the most common explosives in this word - and also one of the easiest to make is anfo - fertiliser and fuel oil.  It sounds simple, but it's an immensely powerful explosive. A ton or so in a the right place could blow up a cargo ship and the harbor it's sitting in - if you can get it into the cargo ship, of course.  The other is less an explosive than a weapon.  Molotov cocktails - half gasoline, and half motor oil - you've probably already heard of them if you're from this world.  They're easy to make and can do a lot of damage especially against gasoline engines or wood structures."

"What the plan is today is to spend some time discussing tactics with these weapons.  When would one of these particular types of explosive devices be useful?  Then make the anfo into a bomb, put together a Molotov cocktail, and blow some stuff up."

[OOC: Please wait for the OCD is up.  All links in this one go to Wiki so no worries about the Feds.  More explanation in the OCD threads.

I'm sorry for the recycled class!  I'm starting a new job this week (*flails*) and I totally blanked on the need for a class because I kinda suck.  I don't have internets at work yet *CRIES* so Aly won't be around until 5ish EDT.]

It was cloudy and gloomy again.  Anemone really really hated Virginia weather, the complete lack of sky was starting to drive her more than a bit stir-crazy.

Grumbling to herself (and Gulliver!), she opened up the library.

There was a television screen at the front of the classroom today; Lulu was fiddling with it a bit, setting it up. "Today," she said, "we're watching a TV episode, the first episode of the series Raising Lilacs. Sorry. The recipes that you would have had today will be in the compilation you'll be getting at the end of the term."

[Sorry for lame class, but something's come up and I'm going to be around today. If you need to speak to Lulu, I'll pick up the pings either tomorrow, or when I get back late tonight. OCD is up!]

There was an unfamiliar looking man at the front of the class room today. Needless to say… Juli was not amused by this latest turn of Fandom whacky. Luckily, she was the only one who’d witnessed her complete freak out about it back in her apartment. Now, in front of her class, Juli looked… almost as composed as normal. Only male.

And onwards! )

And that, she thought thinking of the piano in her apartment, was the truth.

[Wait for the OCD is up! Have at it!]
