Madeline twitched her lips and adjusted her glasses as she looked over the gathered students, counting them silently in her head. "All right, all right, is everyone here? Are we all met, as some guy once said? Good, good, welcome to Women and Gender Studies! Now, let's get started. . . ."

And they do. Eventually. It takes a little while, though )

[OOC: OCD is up, have-at ye! I promise, they'll be moderately less babbly in classes to come.]

As the students found their way to the main campfire, they'd seen John lounging against one of the logs, almost look half asleep. Well, as half asleep as someone could look with a smile on their face. He wasn't that gleeful. Really.

"Are we all here?" It looked like everyone was here. He hoped everyone was here. "If someone's not here, they miss out. Bummer for them. Anyway, if you're here, you should know that I'm John Crichton and this is a class on how to annoy those talky people who stand in front of classrooms. You know, teachers."

And he goes on... )

"Also, I'm looking for a TA. If you're interested, see me after class. If not. All right then," John said, "let's get to it."

[OOC: Students will NOT get in trouble for calling or insulting a teacher. Just tell them John sent them and John will take the punishment. The homework can be handwaved, if you'd like, but I'd love to see you guys actually name calling a teacher. This is for fun, for kicks, and I really love and appreciate all the teachers that have said go ahead and annoy them. Have fun with this!]

Drax attempted to make an announcement. Unfortunately, with the power outage, the PA system wasn't working.

So he marched down to the dining hall and put up the following note.

The following people should report to the dean's office hours today.

Karal Austreben
Molly Hayes
Dean Winchester

The note was stuck in the wall with a knife to show that he meant business. Granted, it was a butter knife. That way no students hurt themselves with it. But still, a dull butter knife into a building? He felt that would still show that he meant business.

While a morning wake-up call from Galactica had started her day early, the power outage had tossed a serious kink in Laura's plans for class. Rather than meeting in the Danger Room, which had miraculously survived the alien attack, the class today would meet at a clearing she had discovered in her wanderings. A tall cherry tree grew just across from the path which led the students there.

As the students arrived, they would find her standing just beside this cherry tree, leaned against a shiny new axe. "Bring it around here, if you would." She noted some eyeing of the axe and grinned. "I promise I'm not an axe murderer...unless you count cherry trees...' )

With the area properly cleared and safe for people to walk through, Thursday opened the library. She pushed the door open and looked inside. The grimace on her face said it all.

While the structure was intact and (after a cursory look inside) Special Collections was seemingly undisturbed, the main library itself was in shambles. Every single book was off the shelves. Some of the shelves were flat on the ground. Chairs were on their sides or up-ended. The computers looked worse for wear.

They had some work ahead of them, that was for sure. It didn't help that the power was seemingly out.

"Best get to it then," she said to herself and moved to pick up a chair.

[OOC: While we're not looking for any new library aides until Fall, feel free to come by the library when it's opened by one of the current aides and help clean and reshelve. Please follow the instructions given by the librarian and the aides.]

Bright and early on Thursday morning, an eccentric woman waited by the main campfire for her students to arrive. At her feet sat a brown bag made of animal skin, possibly alligator or crocodile. Surely it hadn't curled up there. Bags couldn't curl up. Could they? Either way, the lady in question looked rather like someones grandmother, in a long velvet bohemian dress.

"Good morning children! I trust you are all well this fair Thursday. I shall be teaching this workshop, and I am Agatha Cromwell. For the time being, you are welcome to call me Miss Aggie." Aggie smiled warmly at the gathered students. She threw her arms wide open. "Welcome to, Everything You Need to Know About Magic but Were Afraid to Ask! I hope you will enjoy this course as much as I expect to!" She then bent down and opened her bag from which she with drew a chair. She then took a seat.

"I have been practicing and teaching magic for many, many years. I have taught my daughter and her children, most recent of these is my granddaughter Sophie. And what a time we had!" Aggie laughed and clasped her hands together in delight. "But before I tell you anymore about that, let me tell you what I hope to teach you this summer. That we'll discuss magic is a given. Beyond that, I would like to delve into divination, magical beings, time and interdenominational travels, magical methods of communication, magical space, and the responsibility that comes with being a magic user."

Aggie paused for a moment to catch her breath and regarded her students. "Well, I suppose that's enough information form me for a little while. Now I'd like you to tell me a little about you. Start with your name please," Did her bag just creep closer to where she sat?, "and then continue with your magical abilities, experience or interest. I am glad to have each and everyone one of you in this workshop and thrilled that so many of you have taken an interest in that which may be foreign to you."

She looked to the student closest to her on her left hand side and said, "would you be so kind as to get the ball rolling, dear?"

[ooc: First Workshop of Thursday. Up early as I won't be in from NEW JOB until 6:30 PM EST. Slow play is love! Please wait for the OCD is up! I'm soon for bed!]
