As Yomiko opened the library Monday morning, she wondered whether she should take the sign announcing the new library aides down now, or leave it up a little longer just in case. She finally decided to go ahead and leave it up.

"Good day class." Mary nodded as soon as all of the students were settled. "I trust you were able to review the information on Dolphin vocabulary and remembered to dress appropriately. Dolphins can hear a much wider scale of sounds then humans can, so when you finally get to talk to today's guest speaker, you may have some difficulty understanding right away. However, I am confident that you will all eventually be able to pick up the nuances of the language coming from a native speaker. So do yourself the courtesy of not giving up if at first you don't succeed."

As she gave the lecture, Mary walked through the class placing a small tube of sunscreen on the desk of each student.

"If you have not already, please apply this sunscreen to any exposed skin, as we will be going somewhere very warm and sunny when I am done with my introduction."

Hello, and thanks for all the fish... )

When she was done, Mary took an old brass compass from her desk and held it carefully in the palm of her hand.

"Now class I want you all to get up and come gather around me. Come along now spit-spot! Get as close as you can without crowding eachother overly much please... Very good. Thank you." Mary said holding the compass up over her head. "Now. We're going to visit a friend of mine, her name is Amelia and I expect you to be polite. Are we all clear? Good. So then... West!"

If any squirrels, or shrubs, or school security cameras happened to be watching at the moment Mary Poppins said "West!"... They would have seen...

Nothing.

Mary and her students have disappeared.

[[ooc: Please please wait while I create OCD threads. Open, but I'm going to bed. At the end of the period, just before the bell rings, the whole class appears back in the classroom. The bits after the start of the "West" thread are NFB due to distance.]]

Monday, September 18, First Period

It should be a given by now that the table is laden with cookies, scones and tea (or coffee, for you heathens). And also that Aziraphale is sitting in what could be considered the 'professor's chair', having a cup of tea himself. Once the class is seated, he sets his teacup down and begins speaking.

But Agamemnon... )

As the class trailed in, the screen was the sort of black that indicated it was on, but receiving no image. Logan was still involved in conversation, the voices somewhat muted but definitely coming in through the speakers.

The medium is the message. )

Lorelai smiled at the students once they'd all entered and taken their seats.

"Morning everyone! Today we're going to learn about dating. It's an important part of the modern high school experience for a lot of students and with Homecoming coming up in a few weeks, I want to give you all the information you'll need to have a wonderful time."

She launched into a short lecture on old-fashioned courtship rituals and how they evolved into modern dating. She also gave out a packet of handouts on Homecoming, Prom, Dating, and Safe Sex.

"Now, I'm going to pair you up and I want you to try asking each other out on dates. In this day and age, it's perfectly acceptable for a girl to ask someone out, so I want both of you to take a turn doing the asking. Marty, Jaye and I will be around to answer any questions you might have."

"Okay," began Daniel, standing at the front of the class. "Today, we're going to be looking at the Romans. Or rather, we're going to be discussing them.

There's a handout on your desks.

We're going to be considering a remark made by Napoleon. He said that, "the story of Rome is the story of the world." What do you think he meant by this? How is it that the "western world grew up in Rome's shadow?"

After this discussion was over, he waved at the computers.

"Today's game is Death in Rome. Have fun!"

"Hello, students, and welcome to your third week of school! This is your dean, The Tick! Just a few announcements today!"

"First, the construction in the dorms is now complete! Students may now use those facilities!"

"Second, Blair Sandburg, please stop by my office at some point today."

"Third, I was just reading about school administration techniques. You'll be happy to know that on the off-chance you're expelled for wielding a rubber chicken in an unseemly way, you can fight that expulsion by challenging me to a game of checkers! The bad news is that I'm very good at checkers!"

"That is it for announcements today. Have a pleasant day, chums!"

As the students filed in, they could see the SmartBoard activated again, this time with a map of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. Twelve seats were marked with signs, one for each colony. In addition, a packet of papers awaited each student, including an outline of the Colonial government, a copy of the Articles of Colonization, and a few backdated issues facing the system.

She launched into the lecture promptly at two. )

[OCD coming up -- have at. If you wish, pick a Colony from the list linked at the top of the lecture. If not, I'll randomly assign before class next week. If you're left without a colony, don't worry. I have a different job in mind for you....]

[ETA: Not sure what's going on with the links. They're showing up fine in the code, but seem to be adding on something I *so* didn't sign off on. Check the OOC thread for the updated links if these continue to be a problem.]
