Flight and Flying [Friday morning]

When the students arrived, Alec was standing where one would normally find Anakin (the padawan was watching, but seeming very hung-over or perhaps sick or maybe his player was on vacation - who knows?). And in front of him, there were two shiny swoop bikes

As well as the silly helmets from last week, one of which Alec was holding under his arm.

"So, Anakin wants us all to do some real flying this time around," Alec said by way of greeting. "Next week is the Coruscant trip and he doesn't want any of us freezing when we've got real controls in front of us.

"This one," he said, indicating the first bike. "Is Anakin's. The other one? Is mine. Don't crash either of them, or we'll be annoyed. The bikes can hit about 400 klicks, but you don't actually have to go that fast." He held up the helmet that he'd had under his arm so everyone could see. "I'll be wearing this so I can talk to you while you're buzzing around the island. Don't go over water, don't go towards the mainland, and don't crash into any rock faces, okay?"

Alec gave the class a demonstration of the bike's controls.

"Now get out there and don't die."

[ooc: Wait for OCD! Sorry it's so late, try not to kill yourselves because Anakin's around-but-not and Alec has no idea what Coruscant's going to be like so you can bug him but he'll probably just get annoyed.]

Announcements, Friday Morning

There was a surprising lack of swearing and squeaking when the PA turned on this morning. Zoe might actually be getting the hang of this.

"Good morning everyone. The following students will need to report to detention tomorrow morning with Alfred Pennyworth:

Conner McKnight

And I have another note here to remind you all about the Fashion Show in the park this afternoon. Go and support your fellow students in...being fashionable? I'm not even sure. That's all I have for today. Thank you."

Cafeteria - Friday, August 11

The kitchen has been a busy place this morning. Rather than try to settle their argument through violence, Cookie Monster and The Muffin Man have decided to prove their culinary skills with a challenge. The banner stretched above the food line might give an indication of what this challenge entails [[see icon]].

One of the kitchen staff has even agreed to play announcer. "Two challengers in the stainless steel chef kitchen today. This isn't a battle to prove who is most versatile. It is a battle to prove whose specialty is the best. Cookies? Or muffins? With a twist on our favorite TV show, we have provided each challenger with three items. Who will be able to transform these items the best? Will it be Cookie Monster with his cookie method? Or The muffin man with his muffin method? The contenders have been preparing for the last hour and now it is time for you, the students, to judge."

The door to the kitchen opens with a billow of fake smoke and Cookie Monster emerges with his trays of food followed by The Muffin Man with his. They both set out their contributions and step back to anxiously await the outcome.

Cookie Monster's Menu: -Meat cookies (hamburgers) -Really flat corn cookies (corn tortillas) -Potato cookies (potato pancakes)

The Muffin Man's menu: -Meatloaf muffins -Cornbread muffins -Potato muffins (mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese and bacon)

For dessert: Boysenberry pie
