"Hey," Becky said, nodding to the group. "So, today? Is a very, very easy day. We're going to make...pieces of art for the art fair."

She gestured at each of their tables. "You'll see you have condoms, permanent markers, Silly Putty - and newspapers, because you're children and that will delight you - rubber cement, water, paint - and yeah, it's body paint, but it'll work on latex - feathers, glue, tape, elbow macaroni, glitter, pipe cleaners, and both pudding and Jell-O."

"Use these things to create art," she said. "The only thing you have to use is at least one condom. And yes, you can just blow them up and make balloon animals. Oh, and your artwork can be frozen or refrigerated until the fair tomorrow, if you go that route. Try to keep things clean, 'cause remember that all the school official types are going to see this. Work in pairs or alone. I don't care."

Leadership/Outdoorsmanship, Thursday Morning, Danger Room

Students arriving in the Danger Room found it to resemble a large cement room with seating not unlike that in the gym for sports events. Forward, left, and right were large steel doors with valve locks on them. On the lowest bench, an array of safety equipment had been laid out: fire-retardant jackets, pants, and boots, as well as hoods, and self-contained breathing apparati (or SCBAs); fire extinguishers lined the bench across the aisle.
