sword_chocobro: ((older) hang ten)

"Hey, everyone," said Gladio, giving the class a nod once they gathered in the danger shop, which was set up like an outdoor sort of stadium, and taking a moment to roll his shoulders, stretch his arms, as if preparing for a long session of physical activity, even if he'd mostly just be there in the coaching position, "and welcome to Let's Play Some Sports. Where we're going to be...you guessed it...play some sports."

He grinned, because that sort of subtle comedy was the humor he really strived for.

"So today's class is going to focus on a sport that has a lot of little sports in it to give me an idea of your strengths and weakness and what you seem to enjoy or really not enjoy at all, and that's Track and Field. But before we get into that, let's get those introductions out of the way. Go ahead and tell me who you are, whether you wanted to be in this class or not," that, he said with a faint wry snort and a grin, "and what your favorite sport is, if you have one, and why. And if you don't have one, tell me why not, too. That'll help me decide what else we're going to explore in this class further down the line.

"So let's get warmed up and stretching while we do that," he said, now crossing one arm over his chest and pulling it close with the other, then switching arms, "so when we're finished, we can mostly get right into it."

The class had received an email to meet at the onsen, and to bring whatever bathing apparel they were most comfortable in. Was the second half of that Jane's contribution? Possibly.

That contribution continued with some very warn, fuzzy robes at the read for the class because it was winter here still. "Hi, everyone," Jane said, fore sure wrapped up in one of the robes. It was some how Thor adjacent and she wasn't thinking about that, thanks. "Welcome to our new class all about learning to relax."

Cara, meanwhile was already in the water. "Relaxing is just as important skill as any other," she said, eyes halfway closed. "Regardless of what people might otherwise claim."

Look, once she'd actually been halfway decent at work-life balance (of a sort), then she'd been kicked out of the homoerotic torture cult and her life had gotten much more complicated.

"So, let's start things off with a nice, relaxing hour in the onsen," Jane said. "We can do introductions next week."

Or never. Because that was stressful.

"In the meantime just think of things that you personally find relaxing."

Because coming up with their own classes for this was also stressful.

Although Thursday was, of course, Thor's day, they were neither of them so rigid or so attached to a bit of wordplay that Don couldn't put in an appearance on that day, especially when scheduling so decreed. So here was Don at the front of the classroom, greeting his students with a, "Good morning! This is Health Education, and I am Dr. Donald Blake, although I am currently not licensed to practice in the state of Maryland. New York, yes. It's a...paperwork thing." It was fine. "While I don't recommend dying in the first place, if you can avoid coming back from the dead you should do that. Huge headache. Anyway. I can still teach.

"Since this is the first week of class, we are going to do, yes, introductions. This helps me know what you might already know about the subject, and also what you might have really, really wrong. I was dead for about ten years and I feel like I missed a ton," maybe because in real time he'd skipped closer to forty, but, y'know, details, "and I have friends back home who are from other dimensions and whatnot, so I know how confusing this can all be. So. Name, where and when you're from, and anything else you think I should know, like why you took this class. Also, if you've already had any vaccinations, because that's gonna be the first order of business next week. Go," he said, pointing at a student at random.

After hearing radio Belle had come prepared for a cold library.

Belle had underestimated the chilliness of the space. She was wearing a warm sweater, had brought a blanket with her, and was still clutching her mug of hot tea for dear life.

Maybe she'd read a book about somewhere warm today. Somewhere very warm. With a beach. Or maybe a tropical rainforest...
