Anakin's voice had returned, fortunately, and he was ready to impart all sorts ethical knowledge to his students.

"Sometimes schools of thought get mired in the details of everyday life and lose sight of the reason they exist," Anakin finally offered. "Lost in minutiae of dress codes and curfews and who gets promoted and how."

"Politics," Ahsoka added dryly.

"Exactly!" Anakin said, nodding. "Politics is distracting, annoying, and insidious." He made a face. "And everywhere."

It was like sand, in a way.

"People tend to overcomplicate things. And argue about them."

"And then everyone wastes time of being right and not on what they're supposed to be doing."

In his defense, the pre-imperial Senate had been almost entirely useless.

As opposed to Anakin and Ahsoka, who were two of the most focused sapients in the galaxy and no one here had any proof otherwise. "So how do you avoid falling into that trap of arguing the right way of doing good instead of actually doing it?"
