"All right, everyone," Raiden said to his assembled students, "today we are going to beautiful Marrakesh, Morocco, where it is going to be hot, topping 100 degrees Fahrenheit, so I hope you got my message and dressed appropriately, both for the weather and for local customs--no uncovered shoulders or knees, please. While Marrakesh is used to tourists and you wouldn't get in trouble for wearing shorts, we're being respectful. The medina, or old town, of Marrakesh is a UNESCO World Heritage site, meaning it's been internationally recognized as significant and worthy of preservation, and that's where we're headed today. It's a great area full of markets and street vendors and, of course, delicious food. We'll have some time to explore and sample the local street food, maybe do some shopping if you're into that kind of thing, and then we'll stop in at a restaurant and have a delicious tajine for lunch? Sound like a plan? Great! Let's go!"

Just before they went through the portal Raiden added, "Oh, and if there's anything particular you want me to tell anyone who might be visiting this weekend, you should probably let me know now." He'd lie for you if necessary, but he needed to know what lies were being told, guys.

Anakin and Ahsoka stood dramatically (as always) in front of the classroom with their Jedi robes. "Every culture has a way of separating behaviors that are acceptable to the collective community from those that are not," Anakin began. "Murder, theft, adultery--those actions rip at the fabric of a society."

"Often, however, cultures can get ...dramatic about it." Shut up. "These actions aren't treated as bad because of the harm they cause others, but because the impulses behind them might make a person look bad."

"Or make the person who was supposed to teach the correct behaviors look bad," Anakin added with a tiny, unamused smile. "On this planet, for some of the dominant religions, they call the forbidden actions 'deadly sins.'"

"Because why actually work on your failings when you can just declare someone damned and be done with it."

Anakin's smile turned amused at that. "Well, you have to admit that it's more streamlined."

"In case you haven't noticed yet, ethics isn't really a streamlined subject, " Ahsoka told the class in an aside. "Now generally these deadly sins are considered to be wrath, pride, lust, gluttony, sloth...what were the other two? "

"Envy and greed," Anakin said, smiling. "Generally not Jedi vices."

Ahsoka rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "I feel like some of these are similar enough that you could condense them down."

"The four and a half deadly sins doesn't sound as good, though," Anakin said.

"Like I said before, dramatic." Again, shut up.

"Maybe a little," Anakin agreed. "Today we'll be discussing the one we are most tempted by."

No one would ever guess Anakin's. No one.

Students arriving today would find a sign on the door:

Your primary teacher is ill.
Your secondary teacher does not speak enough English to lead a discussion.

I am aware your parents and guardians will be arriving this weekend. Use this class period to prepare whatever myths you will need to sell to them regarding this place.

After this many years, Ghanima knew how these weekends tended to go.
