It was very easy to forget that the library wasn't just a normal school library - that it also held books and media of all types that hadn't been written or performed or published yet. Who knew how long Arden would have continued to forget about that aspect if a gremlin hadn't returned an entire stack of DVDs, which included a performance of Shakespeare's The Tragedie of Mordred, Bastard Son of Arthur, several modern retellings of Atlantean fairy tales, and, most excitingly, another installment of the 2 Fast 2 Family franchise - apparently, the 15th, not counting standalones and spin-offs. But, somehow, even cooler than it simply being the 15th installment of the series, it also happened to be a crossover.

With the Ocean's Edge series. In fact, it served as the prequel to the series.

That's right, somehow the Family were going to use fast cars, giant robots, and a laughable understanding of physics to help save the world from kaiju.

"This sounds rad as fuck," she whispered, setting that aside while she shelved the rest of the return. Hell yeah was she borrowing that one for herself.

The rest of her shift was devoted to thinking up plans. Because this definitely sounded like the perfect inauguration for Midnight Movie Night.

Was anyone looking slightly worried about the pantry ingredients and refrigerated chests Anakin had hauled out the park? Good. You should be worried. There were also three cooking stations set up, and three stacks of terrible, eye-searing shirts in front of Anakin.

Someone stop him from watching food competitions shows into the early hours, gang. "Today will be a cook off!" he announced far-too-loudly through the megaphone. "As always you will work in teams. Your teams will be divided into pairs and as that pair you will work on an appetizer, then tag in the next pair to complete a main dish, and finally your third team pair will make a dessert!"

That seemed too easy.

"You will be bound together like a three-legged race."

There we go.

"And while the food supplies are overwhelming in the choices available to you, the only equipment you have will be what you would find in a typical college freshman's dorm, or in the home of a recently divorced man. Listen for your names! Don't use your powers!"
