wrongkindofsith: (At least one of us has a clue)

Well, the danger shop was done up like Waffle House at 3 am. Because that was the prime time for the lesson at hand.

"Improvised weapons," Jane filled in for the class as a fight started behind her and Cara. "That's what we'll be discussing today. We'll, really more demonstrating?"

Cara picked up a waffle iron, testing the balance. "Your job is to get these rowdy customers out of the store by any means necessary, " she said, right before taking a swing at someone with said waffle iron.

Because Waffle House don't play. Or something.

Jane no sold a chair being thrown at her, only wincing once she noticed it. "Sorry!"

She was doing great at the superhero thing.

"So, let's get started?"

"Welcome back, everyone," Amaya greeted the class with her usual nod, and that little eager smirk on her face that meant she was ready to talk your ear off about some weapon or another before letting you loose on some poor practice dummies. "Last week, we did a little bit of long, long, long distance destruction with catapults and trebuchets, so today, we're going to take it down a notch--ha HA! ARCHER HUMOR!-- "with something a little more...handheld. That's right, today, we're going to be talking about bows!"

Shot through the heart. )

"That just about covers the basics," Amaya grinned faintly. "If there's any questions, though, let's have 'em, and then we're going to get to work. First, before we get to the fun part, I'm going to teach you all how to actually string a bow, though, because a bow's not much good if you've gone and snapped a string or worn it down and can't replace it with a new one. Then it's off to Detective Diaz, where she'll go over nocking, aiming, and shooting at the targets we've got set up over there, and I'm sure, by the end of the class, if you're not an expert already, you will be!

"Or," she added, chuckling faintly, "at the very least, since we're in the Danger Shop, if you're not an expert by the end of class, at least you'll not have lost an eye."

"Right, so last week we were inundated with, well, cheap knock-offs," Steve began as they stood in front of the Portalocity Office. "Today we're going to travel to Florence to see some of the originals."

Tony beamed at that, gesturing the class forward to follow them to the museum in question. "Consider it a free day to immerse yourselves in the era."

"This is the Uffizi Museum, world famous for its Renaissance art collection," Steve said. "It holds paintings from the 14th century through the Renaissance, including names that are hopefully becoming familiar to you: Giotto, Botticelli, Caravaggio, Leonardo, Raffaello--and statues that were in the Medicis' homes. We have a bit of time, so feel free to explore the museum or pop out and enjoy Florence itself for a while."

"And try your best to stay out of trouble, okay?" Tony added.

Jo the mun had finally remembered that it was Friday and she felt bad that she had missed the last couple of weeks after coming back from New Zealand and then everything that had happened in Fandom last week, so she had come in early to make up for it.

So she was back behind the front desk today, she had already finished reshelving the books that needed to be put away and had done some cleaning and general organising, so she settled in for what she hoped would be a nice quiet shift.
